Use this procedure to create a new data source or database connection.

On the Data Sources page, click
Add.

In the Add Data Source dialog box, perform the following:
- In the
Name field, enter a name for the new data source.
- In the
Database Owner field, enter the name of the database owner.
- In the
Provider list, select a data provider to connect your data with, and click
Configure.
- If you are using a SQL Server database, select
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server,
SQL Server Native Client, or
SQL.NET Framework. The Data Link Properties dialog box or the .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server Connection Properties dialog box displays when you click
Configure.
- If you are using an Oracle database, select
Oracle Provider for OLE DB or
Oracle ODP.NET. The Oracle Data Provider for .NET (ODP.NET) Connection Properties dialog box displays when you click
Configure.

Click
OK to close the Connection Properties dialog box or the Data Link Properties dialog box.

Click OK to close the Add Data Source dialog box and complete the process.

On the Data Sources page, the
Data Sources list displays the new data source. Click
Next.

On the Options page, do one of the following:
- Initialize Cobra system data
- Define results

Click
Next.

On the Confirmation page, click
Finish to run the data tool process.
The Process Complete dialog box displays, informing you whether or not the Data Tool has completed with no errors. To display the corresponding processing information, click
View Log.
