The Historical Pipeline Comparison chart displays weekly or monthly historical pipeline in a stacked bar chart, Mekko chart, or line chart, with options to analyze the data by stage, probability range, or pipeline amount range. Depending on the option you select, each segment in a stacked bar or Mekko chart, or each chart line data point represents the pipeline amount at that point in time for opportunities that were assigned to that stage or that had a probability or pipeline amount within that range. |

The default chart is a stacked bar chart, but you can use the Fast Change icon () in the chart title bar to cycle to a line chart or a Mekko chart.
Chart Item |
Description |
Horizontal axis: calendar weeks or months |
The horizontal axis displays the range of calendar weeks or months included in the analysis period. A Capture Analytics configuration setting determines if the view is by week or month. |
Vertical axis (bar chart and line chart): historical pipeline amounts |
For the bar chart and line chart, the vertical axis displays the range of historical pipeline amounts. |
Vertical axis (Mekko chart): decimal parts of the total historical pipeline |
For the Mekko chart, the vertical axis divides the scale from 0.00 to 1.00 (100 percent of total pipeline) into equal segments. |
Stacked bars: historical pipeline amounts by stage, probability range, or pipeline amount range |
Each bar represents the total historical pipeline for that week or month. Each segment in a stacked bar represents the historical pipeline amount for opportunities that are assigned to that stage or that were within that range. Use the Cycle button () next to the legend to break down the historical pipeline amounts by stage, probability range, or pipeline range. |
Chart lines: historical pipeline amounts by stage, probability range, or pipeline amount range |
Each chart line data point represents the historical pipeline for that week or month. Each chart line data point represents the historical pipeline amount for opportunities assigned to that stage or that were within that range. Use the Cycle button () next to the legend to break down the historical pipeline amounts by stage, probability range, or pipeline range. |
Mekko bars: percentage contributions of historical pipeline amounts by stage, probability, or pipeline amount range |
Each Mekko bar represents 100 percent of historical pipeline for that week or month. Thus, all bars are the same height. The relative width of the bars indicates how a period's total historical pipeline amount compares to the total pipeline amounts for other periods on the chart. Each segment in a Mekko bar represents the percentage of the total historical pipeline for the period contributed by opportunities assigned to that stage or that were within that range. Use the Cycle button () next to the legend to break down the historical pipeline amounts by stage, probability range, or pipeline range. |
Data Item |
Description |
Total historical pipeline amount for a week or month |
The sum of unweighted or weighted pipeline amounts for all opportunities included in the pipeline as of the end of the week or month that each bar or chart line data point represents. |
Stage historical pipeline amounts for a week or month |
The sum of unweighted or weighted pipeline amounts for all opportunities that were assigned to that stage as of the end of the week or month that each bar or chart line data point represents. |
Probability range historical pipeline amounts for a week or month |
The sum of unweighted or weighted pipeline amounts for all opportunities with a probability within that range as of the end of the week or month that each bar or chart line data point represents. |
Pipeline amount range historical pipeline amounts for a week or month |
The sum of unweighted or weighted pipeline amounts for all opportunities with a pipeline amount within that range as of the end of the week or month that each bar or chart line data point represents. |
Mekko chart only: Percentage contributions to historical pipeline |
Unweighted or weighted pipeline amount for the stage or range as of the end of the week or month ÷ Total pipeline as of the end of the week or month. |

When your firm implements Capture Analytics, it can select two amount fields from opportunity records in GovWin Capture Management to analyze as pipeline. When Capture Analytics stores historical pipeline information, it includes pipeline amounts for each opportunity based on the amounts in each of those fields. As a result, you can use the options under Pipeline Amount to display historical pipeline using amounts from either of those two fields.
The Unweighted and Weighted options under Pipeline Probability Weighting provide the additional option to display either unweighted or weighted historical pipeline amounts. Weighted pipeline amounts are pipeline amounts with the probabilities applied. Capture Analytics calculates the weighted pipeline amount for each opportunity for a given week or month as follows: Historical pipeline amount × (Historical probability ÷ 100).
This chart gives you the option to break down historical pipeline for each week or month by any of the following:
Stage
Probability range
Pipeline amount range
Each segment of a stacked bar or each chart line data point represents the historical pipeline for that stage or range as of the end of that week or month.
Use the Cycle button () next to the legend to select an option:
Click the button to cycle through the options one at a time.
Right-click the button to select an option from a menu.
If your firm has set up grouped stages, use the Detail and Grouped options to view historical pipeline data either for the original GovWin Capture Management opportunity stages (detail stages) or for the grouped stages. When you select the Grouped option, the bar layers or chart lines in this chart change to reflect historical pipeline amounts for the grouped stages.
A Capture Analytics configuration setting controls the sequence of stage layers in the bars and in the chart legend. Your system administrator sets that sequence during implementation of Capture Analytics.
Click at the top right of the chart to display the chart at its maximum size. Click to restore the chart to its original size and location on the tab.
To focus the chart on a particular set of data points, click and drag the mouse pointer over the chart so that the green selection area touches only the bars or chart line data points that you want to include. Illustration
If you are viewing historical pipeline by stage and want to focus the chart on one or a few stages, do either of the following:
Select the stages in the Stage list. Illustration
Click and drag the mouse pointer over the chart legend so that the green selection area touches only the stages you want. Illustration
If you are viewing historical pipeline by probability range or pipeline amount range and want to focus the chart on one or a few ranges, Click and drag the mouse pointer over the chart legend so that the green selection area touches only the ranges you want. Illustration
To focus the chart on a more restricted analysis period, do any of the following:
Specify the analysis period using the analysis period bars at the top of the tab. Illustration
Click and drag the mouse pointer over the chart bars or chart line data points so that the green selection area touches only the bars or line data points for the weeks or months you want. Illustration
If you use any of the above actions to change the chart, Capture Analytics applies the same changes, as appropriate, to all other analytic objects. An important exception is the analysis period. The analysis period you select on this tab does not affect the analytics on any of the other Capture Analytics tabs.
To see the historical pipeline values for a specific combination of time period and stage or range, position the mouse pointer over that line chart data point or that segment in the stacked bar or Mekko bar. When you do, Capture Analytics displays the historical pipeline amount in a data box, along with the week or month and the stage name or range description. Illustration
