Capture Analytics security enables you to control the following:

When you run Capture Analytics, the only tabs displayed are those to which you are granted access through your user group. You may have access to all analytics tabs or only to a limited set of them.
When you run Capture Analytics, you can only display data for the opportunities assigned to the organizations to which you are granted access in Capture Analytics security.
When you view data on the Capture Analytics tabs, you can view and analyze all data for opportunities that are assigned to the organizations to which you have access. If your firm also installs Costpoint Analytics, this organization access also applies to the Pipeline summary analytics in Costpoint Analytics – Summary.
Whether or not access to an organization automatically extends to lower-level organizations in the organization hierarchy depends on how you set up Capture Analytics security. When you grant access to an organization, you also have the option to grant access to all lower-level organizations below that organization in the hierarchy.
If the organization for an opportunity changes, Capture Analytics always bases access to that opportunity’s data on the most current organization.
For example, organization 1.1 was the organization for an opportunity initially but later the opportunity was assigned to organization 1.2 instead.
A Capture Analytics user with access rights to organization 1.2 but not to 1.1 can analyze all of that opportunity’s data, including data for the period that the opportunity was assigned to organization 1.1.
In contrast, a user with access rights to organization 1.1 but not to 1.2 has no access to the opportunity’s data, including data for the period that the opportunity was assigned to organization 1.1.
The set of organizations to which you have access in Capture Analytics also determines the filter options available to you.
For example, if you view analytics by organization and a project manager has no opportunities that are assigned to the organizations to which you have access, that manager does not appear in the list of possible filter values in the Project Manager filter list.
For Capture Analytics users that are subject to security based on an alternate field rather based than on organization, access to opportunity data is limited to the opportunities that have the alternate field values to which their network user ID is linked in the CRMAnalyticsEmployeeSecuritySetup.xlsx file.
For a more complete description of security based on an alternate field, see Security Based on an Alternate Field: Key Concepts and related topics.
The Current Pipeline tab in Capture Analytics is only available to members of user groups for which either ALLTABSACCESS or PIPELINE_CURRENT on the USERGROUPS worksheet in the CostpointAnalyticsOrgSecuritySetup.xlsx file contains Y.
When you view data based on organization in Current Pipeline Analytics, you can view and analyze all data for opportunities currently assigned to the organizations to which you have access.
The Pipeline Revenue Forecast tab in Capture Analytics is only available to members of user groups for which either ALLTABSACCESS or PIPELINE_FORECAST on the USERGROUPS worksheet in the CostpointAnalyticsOrgSecuritySetup.xlsx file contains Y.
When you view data in Pipeline Revenue Forecast Analytics, you can view and analyze all data for opportunities currently assigned to the organizations to which you have access.
The Historical Pipeline tab in Capture Analytics is only available to members of user groups for which either ALLTABSACCESS or PIPELINE_HISTORICAL on the USERGROUPS worksheet in the CostpointAnalyticsOrgSecuritySetup.xlsx file contains Y.
When you view data based on organization in Historical Pipeline Analytics, you can view and analyze all data for opportunities currently assigned to the organizations to which you have access.
The Bid and Win Rates tab in Capture Analytics is only available to members of user groups for which either ALLTABSACCESS or PIPELINE_BIDWINRATES on the USERGROUPS worksheet in the CostpointAnalyticsOrgSecuritySetup.xlsx file contains Y.
When you view data in Bid and Win Rate Analytics, you can view and analyze all data for opportunities currently assigned to the organizations to which you have access. (Some opportunities may not be included in the rate calculations, however, depending on how your firm sets up those calculations.)
The Ad Hoc Data Discovery tab in Capture Analytics is only available to members of user groups for which either ALLTABSACCESS or PIPELINE_AHDD on the USERGROUPS worksheet in the CostpointAnalyticsOrgSecuritySetup.xlsx file contains Y.
Which dimensions display in the Ad Hoc Data Discovery table is controlled by the same security settings that control your access to data on the other analytic tabs. For example, the organization access that your system administrator sets up for your Capture Analytics user role determines the organizations for which you can view metric values in the table.
Access to the Summary Dashboard tab in Costpoint Analytics – Summary depends first of all on whether or not your firm installs Costpoint Analytics. If you only have Capture Analytics, Costpoint Analytics – Summary is not available.
If you do have Costpoint Analytics, the Summary Dashboard tab in Costpoint Analytics – Summary is only available to members of user groups for which either ALLTABSACCESS or SUMMARY on the USERGROUPS worksheet in the CostpointAnalyticsOrgSecuritySetup.xlsx file contains Y.
In addition, access to the Pipeline summary analytics on the Summary Dashboard tab are subject to any access restrictions for the Current Pipeline tab, as described above. If you do not have access to the Current Pipeline tab in Capture Analytics, the summary pipeline analytics are not displayed on the Summary Dashboard tab. Costpoint Analytics – Summary also enforces organization access when it displays organizations in the Org filter lists on the Summary Dashboard tab and calculates summary data.
If QVACCESS for a user ID in the USERS worksheet in the CostpointAnalyticsOrgSecuritySetup.xlsx file contains ADMIN, that user can create new analytic objects and new tabs within Capture Analytics. If QVACCESS contains USER, they cannot add objects or tabs.
Be aware that users with ADMIN in QVACCESS can create objects that display any data that is available in Capture Analytics or, if your firm has installed it, Costpoint Analytics. You cannot give access to some data items and deny access to others.
