What Happens When I Import a Metric File?

When you import a metric file, Touchstone makes several changes.

  • In the Metrics view (Settings > Metrics):
    • When you import into an existing folder, existing metrics of the same name in the selected folder are overwritten. Metrics that don't already exist in the folder are added. There is no change to existing metrics in other folders, even if they have the same name as an imported metric.
    • When you import into a new folder, the new folder is created and all imported metrics are added to that folder. There is no change to existing metrics in other folders, even if they have the same name as an imported metric.
  • On the Acceptance Criteria tab (Templates > Acceptance Criteria), when you import metrics into a new or existing folder, metrics of the same name are overwritten and the Influence Value for those metrics is reset to the Metrics Weight value in Acumen.
  • On the Metric Variables tab (Settings > Metrics), when you import metrics into a new or existing folder, existing variables are updated with the values in the metric template file. Metric variables that don't already exist are added. Metric variables are not case sensitive and you cannot have duplicate metric variables. Field Variables are not imported.
  • On the Programs Configuration tab (Hubs > Programs), when you import metrics into a new or existing folder, the metric variables override values are not changed.
