Add a Dashpart Calculation to a Table, Chart, or KPI Dashpart

You can add calculated fields based on the selected columns in a table, chart, or KPI dashpart.

Dashpart calculations that are created using the Dashpart Calculation dialog box accessed from the Dashpart Designer are only available for the dashpart that you are editing. When you use columns with filter or date range settings for the dashpart calculation formula, those filter or date range settings are also applied to the dashpart calculation.

These steps do not apply when you are using Vantagepoint on a tablet or smart phone.

To add a dashpart calculation to a table, chart, or KPI dashpart:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Dashboards and then select one of these actions:
    • If no dashboards have been created, select Dashboard.
    • If one or more dashboards exist, select a dashboard under one of these submenus: My Dashboards, Personal, or All Dashboards. The submenus available depend on your role’s access rights.
  2. On the toolbar of the Dashboard form, click Edit Mode to enable editing.

The Edit Mode toggle option is not enabled when you use a tablet or smart phone to access Vantagepoint.

  3. On the edit mode toolbar, click Dashpart Library.
  4. In the Dashpart Library pane, select one of the following actions:
    • Click + New Dashpart and continue to step 5.
    • Hover over an existing dashpart, click , and continue with step 7.
  5. On the Add New Dashpart dialog box, configure the new dashpart, and click Continue.
  6. On the Select Dashpart Columns dialog box, select the columns to be included in the dashpart and click Continue.
  7. On the Dashpart Designer form, click Calculated Field.
  8. On the Calculated Field Options dialog box, click + New Dashpart Calculation.
  9. On the Dashpart Calculation dialog box, set up the formula for the dashpart calculation.
    1. Add fields from the Field section to the Calculation field by double-clicking the field in the list.
The filter and calendar options can be displayed for the column listed in the Field section. This means that a filter or date range setting is configured for that column. Click an option to view the corresponding setting. The filter or date range setting for columns that you include in the formula is also applied to the dashpart calculation.

Optional: Use the Calculation field to enter the SQL statement that you want to incorporate with the dashpart calculation.

    2. Set up the numbers and conditions in the Calculator section.
    3. Click Check Calculation to validate the formula.
    4. Click Save.
The dashpart calculation is added to the dashpart. The dashpart calculation that you created is displayed in the dashpart columns section as the column with the option under the Calculated Fields column.

Dashpart calculations retain the language used when you created them, even if you later log in using a different language. For more information, see: Multiple Languages in Dashboards and Dashparts.
