Place a Transaction on Hold

In Interactive Billing, you can place labor, expense, or unit transactions on hold.

To place a transaction on hold:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Billing > Interactive Billing.
  2. On the Billing Session Options dialog box, select the options for this session and click OK.
Options that you select on this dialog box determine the transactions that display for holding in the next steps.
  3. On the Interactive Billing form, enter a complete or partial name or number in the Find project lookup field to find and select the project.
  4. Click the Labor, Expense, or Units tab, based on the transaction that you want to hold.
  5. Complete one of the following:
    • To hold the entire transaction for one or more transactions:
      1. In the transactions grid, select the checkbox at the beginning of the row for one or more transactions with a Bill, Write-off, or Delete status that you want to hold.
      2. On the grid's action bar, click Hold.

The Status field in the grid for the selected transactions changes to Hold. These transactions will not be available to bill on the current invoice.

    • To hold a portion of a transaction:
      1. In the transactions grid, select a single transaction by selecting the checkbox at the beginning of the transaction's row.
      2. On the grid's action bar, click Hold.
      3. On the Billing Labor, Expense, or Units Hold dialog box, enter the labor hours, expense amount, or unit quantity that you want to hold.

The transaction's original labor hours, expense amounts, and unit quantities prefill in the fields on the dialog box. Change the entries in those fields to reflect the portion of the transaction that you want to hold.

      4. Click Hold on the dialog box.

You are returned to the transactions grid on the tab. The transaction is split in two. A new transaction is added with a Hold status; this transaction shows the hours, amount, or units that are held and that will not be included on the current invoice. The original transaction with its original status remains in the grid with its amounts reduced to reflect the remaining hours, amount, or units that were not held.
