Before you configure PIM to use the Microsoft Entra ID SMTP Client mail flow provider, you must ensure that your organization uses Microsoft Entra ID for managing user identities.

If your organization is using Microsoft Entra ID, you must create an active mailbox user account for use as the PIM system mailbox. This is the same process that you follow to create a user. You must ensure that this user account has login credentials for the account.
