Properties Dialog Box

The Properties dialog box controls the properties associated with an ancillary file.

The name of the dialog box includes the name of the selected file (Properties – <Filename> dialog box, where <Filename> is the name of the selected file).

When accessed from a project that is either unopened or opened in either Exclusive or Shared mode, you can use this dialog box to modify the information it displays. If the project is open in Read Only mode, you can only view the information on this dialog box.

Note: To add or edit project-level properties, use the Project Properties dialog box.

Editing Considerations

When editing the properties for a file, the following guidelines should be taken into consideration:

  • Provided you have the proper access control rights to the file, you do not have to first open a file to edit its properties.
  • The Files tab for a resource file is only enabled when the file is opened in Exclusive mode.
  • A view does not have to be open to edit its properties.
  • Opening a resource, code, or calendar file in Read Only mode disables all the fields in the Properties dialog box.
