Import Dialog Box

Use the Import dialog box to import a file into your installation of Open Plan.

You can use it to select an import specification. When you click OK, Open Plan enables you to open a source data file and create an untitled project that contains the imported information. If the project includes references to ancillary data files such as resource or code files, Open Plan creates untitled versions of these files as well.

If you have a project open when you issue the Import General command, Open Plan enables you to indicate if the imported data should be used to update the current project. Note, however, that whether or not the imported data overwrites existing records is determined by a parameter set in the import specification.

  • Import Specification: This field contains a list of import specifications that you can use when importing the file. When you select a specification and click OK, Open Plan displays the Import File dialog box where you can select the file to import.

For information on creating an import specification script, refer to the Deltek Open Plan Developer’s Guide.

  • Add data to open project: If a project is open, its name is displayed in this field. If you wish, you can use the data you are importing to update the current project. Note, however, that whether or not the imported data overwrites existing records is determined by a parameter set in the import specification.

If you have more than one project open, Open Plan offers to add the data to the project that currently has focus.

If you do not select to add the data to the current project, Open Plan creates an untitled project that contains the imported information. If the project includes references to ancillary files such as resource or code files, Open Plan creates untitled versions of these files as well.
