Use this procedure to export a file to an MS Project database.
Note: Microsoft Project does not need to be present on your computer to export a file to an MSP database (MPD format).
To export a file to an MS Project database:
-
In Open Plan Explorer, select the project that you want to export.
-
On the Integration tab, in the Export group, click
MS Project.
-
In the
Save as type field of the Save Project dialog box, select
MSProject database.
-
Provide a name and location for the MSProject database and click
Save.
Open Plan saves the file with a default extension of .mpd. If you select an existing file name for the database, Open Plan adds the exported file to the selected database; otherwise, the export utility creates an MSProject database with the name that you specify.
-
In the Project Name dialog box, provide a name for the project to be added to the MSProject database.
-
Click
OK.
-
If the Save Options dialog box displays, select the options that you want to set for the export process and click
OK.
The Save Options dialog box does not display if an option has previously been set that inhibits its display.
-
When the export utility displays a message indicating that the transfer has been completed successfully, click
OK.
