Open Plan Import Wizard Validate Files Page

Use this page to validate Open Plan files and fix any warnings or errors that may occur. Additionally, if desired, you may change default names given for the project(s) and ancillary files.

You cannot continue with the import process until all problems have been resolved.

Note: If you do not have shared files, Open Plan prompts you for the names of files to be created. The default name for each file to be created uses the name in the backup file.

Although you cannot continue with the import if you have unresolved warnings or errors, you can cancel the import process at any time by clicking Cancel.

The grid on this page contains the following columns and button:

  • File Type: This column identifies the type of file being imported (for example, calendar, project, resource, and so on).
  • Warning and Error Icons: This column identifies the name of the file being imported. You can change the name of a file by typing directly into the grid.
  • Finish: When you click this button, the Save BK3 Group Options Set dialog box displays. This allows you to enter or edit a group option set name.

Warning and Error Icons

If there is a problem, Open Plan displays a warning icon or an error icon next to the file in question. Hover your cursor over the icon to see a description of the warning or error message.

  • The following are examples of warning messages:
    • File <filename> exists and will be overwritten: The wizard detects that the file to be created already exists in Open Plan. Open Plan will overwrite the existing file with the imported file.
    • An unknown warning occurred: An unexpected warning occurs when validating if the file already exists.
  • The following are examples of error messages
    • Name cannot be blank: A file name must be entered. The import wizard uses the file name to create the Open Plan file.
    • The following characters are not allowed in project, resource, code, calendar, view, reporting calendar, or export specification names: + = [ ] | " : < , > ? *: A file name cannot contain any of the special characters listed in the error message.
    • <filename> in use.: The specified file name already exists in Open Plan and is currently open by the current user or another user.
    • A file of the same type and the same name already exists in the grid. Please rename one of the files: The specified file name is already being used as the file name for another project in the list of files to be imported. Each project to be imported must have a different name.
    • <filename> already exists, and you do not have access rights to overwrite it: The specified file name already exists in Open Plan and you do not have rights to overwrite the file.
    • The file name exceeds the maximum length allowed for the given file type: The specified file name is longer than the maximum file name length allowed by Open Plan.
    • An unknown error occurred: This error is displayed when an unexpected error occurs when validating the file name.

To change or rename a file, enter the new file name directly in the File Name column of the grid.
