Using the Help Search
  • Phrase:Returns all topics that contain the exact phrase in the search criteria. Use quotation marks around the phrase.
    Ex."system administration"
  • And:Returns all topics that contain all the words in the search criteria, in any combination. Insert a plus sign between all words in the search criteria.
    Ex.system + administration
  • Or:Returns all topics with any combination of words in the search criteria. This is the default.

Find an Object

Use the Find dialog box to find an object in any subfolder of the folder that is currently selected.

You can search for an object based on its name or on any field that is available. Because this dialog box is modeless, you can keep it open while you initiate any number of searches.

To find an object:

  1. Right-click the left or right pane of the Open Plan Explorer and select Find from the context menu.
  2. In the Find dialog box, define the search criteria.
  3. Click Find Now to perform the search.
    Open Plan displays the name, location, and file type for each object it finds that matches the search criteria.
  4. To perform another search, click New Search to clear the Named and Where fields.
