Contents of the Project Properties Dialog Box

Use the tabs and fields to configure the Project Properties dialog box.

Tabs

The Project Properties dialog box includes several tabs.

  • Summary: This tab displays information about the project name, description, project manager, company, client, and summary information about the activities, relationships, and resource assignments.
  • Preferences: This tab controls such project defaults as date formats, working hour conversion factors, durations, and the default access mode.
  • Files: This tab controls the calendar, resource definition, and code files associated with the project.
  • Status: This tab provides an overview of the current status of a project.
  • Cost: This tab provides an overview of the budgeted and actual costs associated with the project.
  • Progress: This tab enables you to select valid progress types for a selected activity and set specific actions to perform when the activity is completed.
  • Notes: This tab enables you to create, edit, or delete a note attached to the project.
  • Scheduling: This tab enables you to specify both the project's priority and the type of dates that should be used when calculating the resource usage summary.
  • User Fields: This tab enables you to specify the values that Open Plan should include for user-defined fields on the project table.
  • Access Control: This tab provides information about the access rights that users with a given group and role assignment have to the project.
  • Open Status: This tab provides such information about the open status of the project as the ID of each person who has the project open, the computers on which it is open, the mode in which each user has it open, as well as the date and time when it was last updated.
  • References: This tab displays master projects that include this project as an external project.
  • Codes: This tab controls the project-level codes that are assigned to the project.
  • Validations: This tab displays the list of validations available in the system as well as the validations assigned to a project. It also enables you to assign rules to a project or remove rules that have been assigned to a project.

Fields

There are fields that are located at the top of each tab.

Field Description
Project Name

The name of the project is established when the project is created. You cannot edit the name of the project.

Note: Provided that you have the project open in Exclusive or Shared mode, you can use the Save As command to create a copy of the project by saving it under a different name.
Description

Providing a project description is optional when the project is created. You can enter or modify the project description on any tab of the dialog box.
