Selected Objects Access Control

Field Description
[Drop-down List]

Select the level of access that you want to add to the object. To clear this field, click the button.

You can also add or delete an entry directly from the grid by clicking the selection buttons () on the left of the [Drop-down List] field.

Grid

When you select an object from the field above the grid, Open Plan adds it to the grid.

  • Group: This column indicates the groups that have access to the object. You can specify a Group or a User ID but not both.
  • Role: When you select a group or user ID, Open Plan displays its default role in this column; however, you can change the role to any other role defined in the data source by clicking in the cell and typing. For example, if you want to grant limited access to a user who has SYSADMIN (complete) access to all files, you can specify a limited-access role for the user.
  • User ID: This column indicates individual users who can access the object. You can specify a Group or a User ID but not both.
  • Read Only: This field acts as a limitation to the rights that might otherwise be permitted:
    • By selecting Yes, you limit the group or user to viewing the object(s) but not making any changes.
    • By selecting No, you give the group or user all rights to the object. Provided that no other user has the object open in exclusive mode, the group or user may open the object in any mode they select.
Field Description
Replace Access Lists

Select this option and click Update Access Control to replace the object's existing entries in the access control list with the entries you specified in the grid.

After you make your changes and click the Update Access Control button, Open Plan deletes all access rights for the selected objects and then creates records entered in the grid for each selected baseline.

Note: For example, when you select two baseline objects and enter three records in the grid, you end up with six baseline security (BSC) records for the two baselines regardless of how many BSC records existed for the two baselines prior to the replace operation.
Add to Access Lists

Select this option and click Update Access Control to add the entries that you specified in the grid to the object's access control list. When you select this option, the grid is empty by default.

After you add records and click the Update Access Control button, Open Plan performs any of the following actions:

  • Adds a new record to the access control list (when you are adding a record that does not yet exist in the access control list)
  • Updates the existing record in the access control list with the rights of the new record (when you are adding a record that already exists in the access control list)
  • Retains an existing record in the access control list (when the existing record does not have a corresponding new record)
Update Access Control

Click to apply the entries you added or replaced to the access list.
