Substitute Project Parts Subtask

Use this subtask to list substitute parts for parts that have been assigned to projects.

Field Description
Sequence

Enter a number to assign the order of preference of the substitutability of this part for the original. Example: Is this part preferred as first substitute, second substitute, third substitute, and so on.

Substitute Part

Enter, or click to select, the substitute part that can be exchanged for the specified part for the assigned project.

Rev

Enter, or click to select, the revision of the substitute part.

Status

Select one of the following options from drop-down list options to indicate whether the inventory for this substitute part can be used in place of the original part or to indicate that this substitute part is not interchangeable:

  • Use-up/Interchangeable
  • Interchangeable
  • Non-Interchangeable
  • Invalid Substitute
Description

This field displays the description for the selected substitute part.

U/M

This field displays the unit of measure assigned to this substitute part.

Make/Buy

The make/buy status assigned to this substitute part displays as M (Make) or B (Buy).

Part Security

This field is visible only if the Use Part Data Security Controls check box is selected on the Configure Product Definition Settings screen, which indicates that the part is subject to data security restrictions, as defined in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

If enabled, this field displays one of the following values to indicate whether the part you are accessing is subject to part data security restrictions and whether you have the necessary authorization to access information for that part:

  • Unrestricted: The part is not subject to data security restrictions.
  • Restricted: The part is subject to data security restrictions and that you are authorized to access detailed part information.
  • ***UNAUTHORIZED***: The part is subject to data security restrictions and you are not authorized to access or view part information. This value is displayed in red background color.

However, it is each company’s responsibility to confirm that it is meeting its obligations with respect to ITAR or other applicable requirements. Click this button to load all substitute parts for the selected part.

Inventory Lot Required

This field displays whether or not lot numbers are tracked for this part.

Inventory Serial Required

This field displays whether or not serial numbers are tracked for this part.
