When you access this screen for the first time, it displays two system-defined provisional part types: MFG (Manufacturer Part) and VEN (Vendor Part). You can define additional types.

Enter a description of the part type.
Use the drop-down list to indicate what you want 
to display when you add a provisional part for this part type. Valid options are:
Manufacturer — Select this option to classify this provisional part type as a manufacturer.
Vendor — Select this option to classify this provisional part type as a vendor.
This value allows you to look up existing manufacturer or vendor part numbers when adding a provisional part.
