Use this screen to enter adjustments to costs for inventory parts for a specific inventory project. This cost adjustment creates an inventory transaction that is posted to the General Ledger. The cost adjustment updates the unit cost of the item on the Manage Project Item Costs screen in Costpoint Product Definition for those cost methods that are used for the specified project as the inventory valuation method.
Cost amount fields for each cost element will represent the new cost at which the inventory is supposed to be valued. If average actual is being used, the "new" cost entered will be the average cost.
Cost adjustments can be inserted only on this screen. However, you can view cost adjustments on the View Inventory Transaction History screen. If Cost Suppression is in effect (the Suppress Cost check box is selected on the Manage Users screen in Costpoint Administration), you cannot enter information on this screen. When you select the Do Not Post Adjustment to General Ledger check box on this screen, all fields in the Adjustment Charge Numbers group box are disabled.
Use this screen whenever adjustments to costs (not quantities) of inventory parts are required.
This screen has two tabs:
Details — Use this tab to enter adjustment details to costs for inventory parts for a specific inventory project.
Cost Elements — Use this tab to derive the unit cost of a part.
Costpoint assigns the next cost adjustment ID.
The system date is displayed as the default transaction date, or you can enter, or click to select, another date. This field is required.
Enter, or click to select, the adjuster who is performing this transaction. A valid employee ID is required.
