What Filter Selection Colors Mean
When you select one or more filter values, colors are applied to values in that filter list and in other filter lists so that you can distinguish between selected values, related values, and excluded values.
Green
|
When you select one or more filter values from a list, those values are highlighted with a green background. Values in that list that the selected filter values exclude from the data are indicated with a gray background. Example: You select one element that you want to focus on. That element displays with a green background. All other elements are excluded by that choice, so they have gray backgrounds. |
Gray
|
When you select a filter value in one list, filter values in other lists may also be excluded by that choice. They too are displayed with gray backgrounds. You can select an excluded filter value, but that also removes the original filter because the two selections are not compatible. Example: Your selection in the CAM filter list excludes elements for which that person is not the CAM, so those elements have gray backgrounds in the Unindented Elements list. |
White
|
When you select a filter, some values in that list or, more commonly, in other filter lists may have white backgrounds. That indicates that those values are associated with the currently selected filters, are compatible with them, but are not explicitly selected. In other words, you could select them without invalidating the original filter selection. Example: In this illustration, elements for which the person select in the CAM filter list is the CAM have white backgrounds. You could select one or more of them without also forcing removal of the CAM filter selection. |
