Bottom to Top Variance Chart

The Bottom to Top Variance chart in the lower-left corner of the Master Dashboard tab displays the variance amounts or percentages, from the lowest to the highest value, for elements at the selected level of the contract structure.

Chart Format

The Bottom to Top Variance chart is a bar chart.

Right-click to select the type of variance you want to display (SV, CV, or VAC), or click to cycle through the variance options. The variance you select for this chart also applies to the other two charts at the bottom of the dashboard.

Use in the Bottom and Top variance tables in the upper-right corner of the tab to select the structure level.

Chart Item Description
Horizontal axis The horizontal axis displays all elements at the selected level of the structure that satisfy the filters and other options you apply. They display in order from the element with the largest negative variance amount or percentage to the one with the highest positive variance amount or percentage.
Vertical axis The vertical axis displays the range of variance amounts or percentages for the included elements.
Bars The height of each bar above or below 0 represents the variance amount or percentage for that element of the structure. The bar color indicates how that variance relates to the performance threshold settings that your wInsight system administrator establishes for each contract in wInsight.

Chart Data

The Bottom to Top Variance chart displays the following data for all elements at the selected level of the contract structure as of the period selected in Period:

Data Item Description
Variance amount The cumulative or current schedule variance, cost variance, or variance at completion amount or percentage for the element.

The bar colors are determined by the change threshold settings that your wInsight system administrator establishes for each contract in wInsight. The colors indicate cumulative or current performance based on the thresholds. A legend at the bottom of the tab displays the thresholds.

To see the actual variance amount or percentage for an element, position the mouse pointer on that bar. The element information displays in a data box.
