Consolidated Organization Trend Chart

The Consolidated Organization Trend chart on the WBS OBS View tab summarizes OBS element contributions to SV, CV, or VAC amounts for 6 or 12 months up to and including the currently selected period.

You can use this chart to analyze variances by OBS element for more than one contract at a time. However, if two contracts have very different OBS structures, the OBS bar segments for one contract will not apply to the other, so reviewing data for one contract at a time is often the best approach in that situation.

If you select a contract for analysis for which the WBS has not been mapped to the OBS, this chart does not display.

Chart Format

The Consolidated Organization Trend chart is a stacked bar chart.

Chart Item Description
Horizontal axis The horizontal axis displays the range of months.

Use the 6-months or 12-months option at the top of the chart to select the number of months to display.

Vertical axis The vertical axis displays the range of variance amounts.
Bars Each bar represents the total variance amount for the period.

Each segment of the bar represents the portion of the variance amount contributed by a consolidated OBS element.

Chart Data

Use the SV, CV, and VAC options above the WBS Consolidated Organization Matrix table to select the type of variances you want to display.

Use the Level of Detail to Display options to display variances for a specific WBS element level, for control accounts or work packages, or for lowest level WBS elements only.

The Consolidated Organization Trend chart displays the following data for each period:

Data Item Description
Total variance amount Total cumulative or current SV, cumulative or current CV, or VAC contributed by consolidated OBS elements for the period.

If you select a contract for analysis for which some of the WBS has not been mapped to the OBS, the variance amounts for the unmapped elements are not included in the amounts represented by the chart bars.

Variance amount for an OBS element Cumulative or current SV, cumulative or current CV, or VAC contributed by a consolidated OBS element for the period.

To select the OBS level for which you want to display variances, right-click and click the level in the list.

To see the actual variance amount for an OBS element for a period, position the mouse pointer on that segment of the bar. The segment information displays in a data box.
