WBS OBS View Implementation

Before you can use the WBS OBS View tab, a number of prerequisite setup tasks are required, both in wInsight Analytics and in the wInsight Analytics module.

The most crucial prerequisite is that the wInsight database must contain the WBS-to-OBS mapping information. The tab is not displayed if your wInsight Analytics system administrator indicates as part of module configuration that the required WBS-to-OBS mapping information is not available. The remaining prerequisite tasks basically establish a common OBS for all contracts. This is necessary because each contract uses a different OBS in wInsight, so you need to define how the OBS elements from different contracts should be consolidated.

If the mapping information is available in wInsight, the system administrator must do the following in the wInsight Analytics module to implement the WBS OBS View analytics:
  1. In wInsight Analytics Configuration, select Y (yes) in WBS OBS Link to activate this tab.
  2. Enter all mapped OBS elements on the OBS_Org_Mapping sheet of the wInsight_Analytics_Setup.xlxs spreadsheet, and assign common labels to elements from different contracts that should be grouped for analysis purposes.
  3. Use the Org_Hierarchy sheet of the wInsight_Analytics_Setup.xlxs spreadsheet to then associate each of the lowest level organizations with two higher levels for analysis purposes. On the WBS OBS View tab, you can display data at the lowest level defined in step 2 or at either of the higher levels defined in this step.
