When you create a new workflow, the status date on the workflow form comes from the Period End Date on the Progress tab in the Project Form View. It is important that you schedule the creation of progress entries so that the Period End Date is automatically updated at the correct time. This is useful when the Cobra status date is held after the end of the month to allow for actual costs and Explanation of Variances to be entered. If you create a new workflow on the first of the month, the status date would default to the current period.
If you want to create a new workflow for a prior period and the Cobra calendar has not yet been advanced, you can now use the Planned Effective Date to indicate that the workflow should be completed in the prior period.
For example, if you create a workflow on January 3, PM Compass assumes that the workflow is for the January period and the status date is set in January. If you want to create a workflow that will be completed in December (and has changes required in the month of December), and the Cobra calendar has not yet been advanced to January, you can now do this by changing the Planned Effective Date on the workflow form. PM Compass updates the status date to match the Planned Effective Date on the workflow form.
