Format Numbers Dialog Box

To accommodate companies located or doing business in countries other than the United States, PM Compass provides default number, currency, and date formats for reports based on your settings in Regional and Language Options in Microsoft Windows. PM Compass also enables you to modify those default formats for individual report columns. (To review or change your settings for Windows, display the Windows Control Panel and double-click Regional and Language Options.)

You can view this dialog box from the Layout tab and the Columns tab Format column. When you display it from the Columns tab, you specify settings for the selected column only. When you display it from the Layout tab, you specify settings for the entire report. Any settings specified for a specific column using the Columns tab override settings on the Layout tab.

Default Formats

The Layout tab on the Options dialog box for a report displays the default number (non-currency) formats for the report. Those formats, in turn, become the default formats for each numeric field on the report. You can modify the default formats on the Layout tab.

Type

Use this option to indicate if you want the default number type to be Number or Percent.

Sample

This field displays a sample of how the numbers will display with the current options.

Other Options

Use Default Number of Decimal Places / Decimal Places

Select this option if you want to use the default number of decimal places. Otherwise, clear the option and select or enter the number of decimal places in Decimal places.

In some case, PM Compass uses a fixed number of decimal places for a column. If you specify a different number, it has no effect on the format of amounts in those columns.

Digit Grouping

Use this field to select either no grouping (123456789) or the default grouping for the applicable culture. For example, if the culture for the report displayed in the Override regional settings field on the Layout tab is English (United States), this option is 123,456,789.

Negative Number

Use this field to specify how you want to report to indicate negative amounts: a minus sign before the amount, a minus sign after the amount, or the amount in parentheses.

Zero Number

Use this field to specify how you want the report to indicate zero amounts: display 0, display a short dash (-), or Do Not Display.
