When you click the Edit button on the Time Phased grid of the Enter Cost Progress form Resource tab, and before you can edit the time phased data, PM Compass performs a number of validation checks:
The system first checks to see if the work package is closed. If it is, a message displays asking if you want to delete the forecast. If you click Yes, then the time phased forecast is deleted and the grid remains disabled. If you click No, then no data is changed and the grid remains disabled.
If the work package is not closed, then the system continues with the next validation checks:
Is the work package planned and the forecast start date before the status date?
Is the work package in progress and the forecast finish date before the status date?
Is the actual start date after the status date?
Is there an actual finish date?
If the answer to any of the above is Yes, a message displays. You will need to correct the data then click Edit again to continue the validation checks. If the answers are all No, PM Compass next checks whether the forecast class time phased records are correct by confirming the following:
There are no records before the work package forecast start date.
There are no records after the work package forecast finish date.
There are no missing periods between the work package forecast start and finish dates.
The spread is correct.
If the spread is not correct, the system checks to see if the Period End Date is out of sync with the Cobra Status Date.
If they are in sync, or if the work package is not in progress, a message displays letting you know that <ForecastCostSet> is outside the <work package> dates and that, in order to edit it, you will need to save your changes and select one of the following options:
Respread the remaining within the forecast dates — If you select this option, the following occurs:
If the work package is in progress, all time phased data before the Period End Date is deleted.
The Total is updated with the remaining time phased periods.
The forecast is respread over the remaining periods from the Period End Date or between the forecast start and finish dates for planned work packages.
Delete <ForecastCostSet> outside forecast dates — If you select this option, the following occurs:
If the work package is in progress, all time phased data before the Period End Date is deleted.
If the work package is planned, all time phased data before the forecast start date is deleted.
All time phased data after the forecast finish date is deleted.
The Total is updated with the remaining time phased periods.
All missing zero value time phased records between the forecast dates are added.
If they are not in sync, and the work package is in progress, a message displays letting you know that the time phased <ForecastCostSet> is not correct and that the Cobra Status Date is not the same as the Period End Date.
If you click Yes to save changes and delete the Forecast cost set, the following occurs:
All time phased data before the Period End Date is deleted.
All time phased data before the forecast start date and after the forecast finish date is deleted.
The Total is updated.
If you click No, specifying that you don't want to delete the forecast cost set, the Time Phased grid on the Enter Cost Progress form Resource tab is disabled.
