When in a modeling session, it is assumed that the workflow will not be posted in a prior period. If the status date on the workflow form is before today’s date, the calendar on the sandbox project is automatically advanced when the workflow is approved until today’s date is within the calendar period. The status date on the workflow form of both the parent and its children are updated. This process is run before the Schedule Integration step action for an approval or a Submit for Review request. You can view the process log of the advance calendar as well as the schedule integration on the workflow Links tab. If the process fails, PM Compass sends an email to the person who approved or submitted the workflow for review.
This is useful for ensuring the budget in the past is not changed as part of the change request. A similar check is run during the Complete step. If it takes more than a status period to complete the workflow, the calendar is advanced before running schedule integration. Thus, the status date on the workflow form of a completed workflow represents the status date that the workflow was completed.
