Microsoft Project Tab

PM Compass needs certain information in order for the MSP integration to work. The information needed depends on whether you are using Microsoft Project Professional or Microsoft Project Server as your scheduling tool.

Default Location for Project Professional

Microsoft Project (.MPP) files

Enter or edit the UNC path for the Microsoft Project .MPP files folder. For example, \\<servername>\mspfiles. The project files folder can be located anywhere that the account running the PM Compass Process Server service and the PM Compass Application Pool on the Web/Application Server can access.

This folder (for example, MSP Files) is used to store your Microsoft Project files that will be used for the PM Compass integration. PM Compass needs full read/write access to this folder and the Process Server account needs read/write access to this folder.

The path that you enter here displays as the default folder location when you set up the project link on the Project Schedule Integration tab; however, you can browse to an alternate location on the Project Schedule Integration tab.

The MSP integration will not work if this path is blank or incorrect. In addition, you cannot delete it if there are existing projects connected to the MSP integration.

Project Server Settings

The MSP integration will not work if these credentials are blank or incorrect. In addition, you cannot delete them if there are existing projects connected to the MSP integration.

Project Server URL

Enter or edit the UNC path for the location of the Project Server.

Domain\Username

Enter or edit the Project Server domain and username in the following format: domain\username. The username that you specify must be a domain account and a member of one of the following Project Web App (PWA) groups:

In addition, Deltek strongly recommends that this user account and the one that is used to start up the Process Server be the same account. The account that is specified here is used to retrieve the list of projects that you can associate with the PM Compass project in Project Details. If the account is different than the one used to run Process Server, it can potentially give you inconsistent results, such as being able to see the project in Project Details but not being able to perform an import.

This user is not necessarily the same as the logged in PM Compass user. The PM Compass user can view all Project Server projects in PM Compass and doesn't need any access rights to PWA in order to see the schedule projects.

Password

Enter or edit the password for the username entered in the Domain\Username field.

Test Connection

Click to test if the entered credentials are correct. A "Connection successful" or "Connection failed" message displays after validation.
