After you have added all of the necessary fields to the database, you need to indicate how the schedule is linked to the PM Compass project.
If you use Open Plan, you can link more than one schedule project to a PM Compass project.
If you are using Microsoft Project (Professional or Server), you can link one schedule project to a PM Compass project.
Multiple projects other than Open Plan or MSP can be imported into the PM Compass projects using the Import process.
This procedure allows you to link schedule projects to PM Compass projects. The schedule data comes from Deltek Open Plan, Microsoft Project, or Primavera. The cost data comes from Cobra. Before you select a scheduling tool, make sure that schedule data exists in the system. If there is no existing schedule data, an error message displays.
To link schedule projects to PM Compass projects, complete the following steps:
On the Navigation menu, click Projects » Projects.
In the Projects List View grid, select the project that you want to modify, or use the Search functionality to retrieve the project that you want to update.
Click Form View.
Select the Schedule Integration tab.
In the Scheduling Tool field, select the tool to use. The displayed and enabled fields and grid depend on the selected scheduling tool.
If you select None, all fields in the Link to the Cost System Fields section are disabled.
This field is automatically set to Primavera/Other during the data import if you use schedule data from those systems for this PM Compass project.
If you select Open Plan, Microsoft Project Professional, or Microsoft Project Server, the Schedule Projects grid is enabled.
In the Link to the Cost System Fields section, enter or select codes or user character fields that the system uses to link the project’s cost to its schedule. These codes or fields are set up on the Source Fields tab of the User-Defined Data form with the Area field set to Schedule. The exact names of these fields depend on the values entered into the corresponding fields set up on the Fields tab.
<Control Account Fields 1-3> — Enter or select codes or user character fields set up on the Source Fields tab (Area = Schedule) in User-Defined Data. An entry in the Control Account field is required if the cost system is Cobra and the corresponding field on the Projects Fields tab has a value. If the corresponding field on the Fields tab is blank, then an entry here is not required.
<Work Package> — This field is required if the cost system is Cobra and the corresponding Work Package field on the Projects Fields tab has a value. Enter or select an activity ID field set up on the Source Fields tab (Area = Schedule) in User-Defined Data.
The field labels reflect the values in the Labels for Cost System Fields field on the Projects Fields tab.
If the scheduling tool is Open Plan or Microsoft Project, use the Schedule Projects grid to select a schedule project that you want to associate with the project in PM Compass.
Click Save.
Do one of the following:
Microsoft Project — Import the project into PM Compass by clicking Run Now on the Schedule Integration tab. After the import is complete, navigate to the Schedule Analysis view (List View » Schedule Analysis) to confirm that the project data was loaded correctly.
Scheduling Tools other than Microsoft Project — After configuring the linking fields, navigate to the Cost Analysis view (List View » Cost Analysis) and click on the Activities tab. If you have properly configured the link, you will see the activities related to the control accounts and work packages.
