Link Schedule Projects to PM Compass Projects

After you have added all of the necessary fields to the database, you need to indicate how the schedule is linked to the PM Compass project.

To confirm that the projects have been linked, use the Cost Analysis Activities tab to see the activities for the selected work package.

This procedure allows you to link schedule projects to PM Compass projects. The schedule data comes from Deltek Open Plan, Microsoft Project, or Primavera. The cost data comes from Cobra. Before you select a scheduling tool, make sure that schedule data exists in the system. If there is no existing schedule data, an error message displays.

To link schedule projects to PM Compass projects, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Navigation menu, click Projects » Projects.

  2. In the Projects List View grid, select the project that you want to modify, or use the Search functionality to retrieve the project that you want to update.

  3. Click Form View.

  4. Select the Schedule Integration tab.

  5. In the Scheduling Tool field, select the tool to use. The displayed and enabled fields and grid depend on the selected scheduling tool.

  6. In the Link to the Cost System Fields section, enter or select codes or user character fields that the system uses to link the project’s cost to its schedule. These codes or fields are set up on the Source Fields tab of the User-Defined Data form with the Area field set to Schedule. The exact names of these fields depend on the values entered into the corresponding fields set up on the Fields tab.

The field labels reflect the values in the Labels for Cost System Fields field on the Projects Fields tab.

  7. If these fields are blank, it means that the fields haven't been defined in User-Defined Data. For more information, see Configuring PM Compass: Add Fields to PM Compass.

For a PM Compass-only master project, you need to label the cost system fields using the Fields tab before you can link the fields. The cost system fields are read-only until they are labeled.

  8. If the scheduling tool is Open Plan or Microsoft Project, use the Schedule Projects grid to select a schedule project that you want to associate with the project in PM Compass.

  9. Click Save.

  10. Do one of the following:
