Create an Approve Change Workflow

After the Project Controls Analyst (PCA) works with a Control Account Manager (CAM) to plan and price the requested change, the PCA creates an Approve Change workflow.

If you are a Deltek Cobra user, enter the value of the change into a new class and then create a new cost set containing this class.

In addition to manually creating an Approve Change using these steps, you can set up PM Compass to automatically create an Approve Change when the Request Change is completed. See Automatically Create an Approve Change for steps.

To create an Approve Change workflow, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Navigation menu, click Workflows ยป Change Management.

  2. On the List View form toolbar, click New and select New Workflow or Copy Current Workflow.

    The Copy Current Workflow option is only available if there is an existing change request in the grid. Selecting it copies the information of the original Request Change into the new change request.

  3. In the Workflow Type Search dialog box, select Approve Change then click Select.  

  4. On the Approve Change form, enter or select the necessary information. See Approve Change Form for a description of the fields.

  5. Click the Related Workflows tab.

  6. Click Associate. The Workflows Search dialog box displays.

  7. Search for and select the related Request Change.

  8. On the form toolbar, click Start Workflow. The Start Workflow button label changes to Workflow Actions.

  9. To see the next approver, click the Progress tab.
