Define Fields in Open Plan

On the PM Compass User-Defined Data Source Fields tab, when Area = Schedule and Schedule Project is selected in the Table column, the only available fields in the Field Name drop-down list are codes defined at the project level.

By default, Open Plan does not have any of these defined. You have to manually assign the code files to code fields. After the fields are assigned in Open Plan, they will be available in the Field Name drop-down on the Source Fields tab.

To define fields in Open Plan so that they display in the Field Name list on the Source Fields tab, complete the following steps:

  1. Log into Open Plan.

  2. Select Tools ยป Options.

  3. On the Options dialog box Codes tab, click the Ellipsis button.

  4. In the Code Files column, select a code file that contains the list of user IDs.

  5. In the Code field to assign code file to column, select the code field to which you want to assign the code file.

  6. Click Assign.

  7. Enter a prompt in the Code File Prompt dialog box that you want Open Plan to display to identify the code file and click OK.

  8. Click OK on the Assign Code dialog box.

A message displays asking if you want to modify the table structure.

  9. Click Yes to modify the table structure and have the field available in PM Compass.

If you click No, the field will be added as a user-defined field but will not be available in PM Compass.

  10. On the Open Plan DBA Login dialog box, enter the User ID and Password of a user that has access rights to modify the database table structure.
