  • Phrase:Returns all topics that contain the exact phrase in the search criteria. Use quotation marks around the phrase.
    Ex."system administration"
  • And:Returns all topics that contain all the words in the search criteria, in any combination. Insert a plus sign between all words in the search criteria.
    Ex.system + administration
  • Or:Returns all topics with any combination of words in the search criteria. This is the default.

Results Page of the Integration Wizard

Use this page to select specific results that Cobra should calculate after the import process is completed.

This page displays only if you select the Use one file with activity and resource assignment data checkbox on the Project Selection page.

Calculate Results Group Box

This group box lists all of the results defined in the resource file of the selected project.

  • If you are loading a new configuration, all results defined in the resource file of the selected project are listed and not selected.
  • If you are loading an existing configuration, all results defined in the resource file of the selected project are listed, and previously selected results are still selected.
  • If you are loading an existing configuration with a base result for some resources (for example, Direct for Subcontractor or Units for Material) but not for other resources (for example, Labor), the result is listed.
Note: Saving the configuration also saves the selected results. If you define new results subsequently in the Cobra database, they are not added automatically to the list of results that are recalculated when you open the configuration again.

Use this group box to select results that Cobra should calculate after the import process is complete. These results are often not specified as part of the import file, such as full-time equivalents and fee. You can select more than one result.

  • If you load a result from the import file and the result is not selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra loads the values directly from the import file.
  • If you load a result from the import file and the result is also selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra determines the base result and recalculates any selected results. If there are values loaded from the import file that are also calculated by Cobra, the process log displays a warning message informing you which loaded results were recalculated.
    For example, if you load HOURS, DIRECT, and OVERHEAD from the import file and select HOURS, DIRECT, and OVERHEAD in the Calculate Results group box:
    • The DIRECT and OVERHEAD values are calculated based on HOURS.
    • The process log displays the following warning message. "The results 'DIRECT, OVERHEAD' loaded from the schedule for <Resource Assignment> have been recalculated."
  • If a base result is selected in the Calculate Results group box but was not loaded from the import file, Cobra determines the first non-base result loaded from the import file and uses it to back calculate the base result.

    For example, if you select HOURS, DIRECT, and OVERHEAD in the Calculation Results group box and only load OVERHEAD from the import file, Cobra uses OVERHEAD to calculate the HOURS and DIRECT results.

Assume you have the following data for a Labor resource:

Resource A

  • If HOURS, DIRECT, and OVERHEAD are selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra calculates the DIRECT and OVERHEAD values based on HOURS.
  • If DIRECT and OVERHEAD are not selected in the Calculated Results group box, Cobra loads the HOURS value and leaves the DIRECT and OVERHEAD values as 0.

Resource B

  • If HOURS, DIRECT, and OVERHEAD are selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra calculates the DIRECT value and calculate the OVERHEAD value based on HOURS. The process log displays the following warning message: "The results 'DIRECT' loaded from the schedule for <Resource Assignment> have been recalculated."
  • If DIRECT and OVERHEAD are not selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra loads the HOURS and DIRECT values and leaves the OVERHEAD value as 0.

Resource C

  • If HOURS, DIRECT, and OVERHEAD are selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra back calculates the HOURS value and calculates the OVERHEAD value based on HOURS. The process log displays the following warning message: "The results 'OVERHEAD' loaded from the schedule for <Resource Assignment> have been recalculated."
  • If DIRECT and OVERHEAD are not selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra back calculates the HOURS value, loads the DIRECT value, and leaves the OVERHEAD value as 170.
  • If HOURS, DIRECT, and OVERHEAD are not selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra leaves the HOURS value as 0 and loads the DIRECT and OVERHEAD values as 170.

Resource D

  • If HOURS, DIRECT, and OVERHEAD are selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra loads the HOURS value and calculates the DIRECT and OVERHEAD values based on HOURS. The process log displays the following warning message: "The results 'DIRECT,OVERHEAD' loaded from the schedule for <Resource Assignment> have been recalculated."
  • If DIRECT and OVERHEAD are not selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra loads the HOURS value as 50, the DIRECT value as 500, and the OVERHEAD value as 170.
  • If only OVERHEAD is selected in the Calculate Results group box, Cobra loads the HOURS value as 50 and the DIRECT value as 500, and calculates the OVERHEAD value based on HOURS. The process log displays the following warning message: "The results 'OVERHEAD' loaded from the schedule for <Resource Assignment> have been recalculated."

Resource E

This result has a base result of DIRECT.

  • If HOURS, DIRECT, and OVERHEAD are selected in the Calculate Results group box , Cobra loads the DIRECT value and recalculates the OVERHEAD value based on DIRECT. The process log displays the following warning messages:
    • "The results 'OVERHEAD' loaded from the schedule for <Resource Assignment> have been recalculated."
    • "The results loaded for 'HOURS' are not defined in the Resource Assignment <Resource Assignment> calculation, so the values won't be loaded."
  • If DIRECT and OVERHEAD are not selected in the Calculate Results dialog box, Cobra loads the DIRECT value as 500 and the OVERHEAD value as 170. The process log displays the following warning message: "The results loaded for 'HOURS' are not defined in the Resource Assignment <Resource Assignment> calculation, so the values won't be loaded."

Miscellaneous Scenarios

This section details additional scenarios you may encounter when the mapped results in the import file and the selected results on the Results page are not logical/valid.

Scenario 1: The import file contains one or more mapped derived results of the resource and no base result is mapped.

Expected Result: Cobra does not load any values and the process log displays an error message.
