Search Tab of Generic Resource Assignments Form

Use the Search tab of Generic Resource Assignments to enter criteria that refine the results of your search. The criteria allow you to specify the level of detail to which you want to conduct your search, from a broad search of all generic resources, to a refined search that includes only one type of resource within a specific organization.

Your search results can include color-coded graphical cues that help you quickly identify billable and non-billable projects, as well as hard booked, soft booked, and blended assignments.

Filtering Fields

Use the Generic Resource Filter, Organization Filter, and Plan Filter fields to refine the common search filtering options.

Vision applies all filter options to the search, regardless of which filter options are open and closed.

Generic Resources

Use this field to select a filter for the generic resource. The options are:

  • Lookup — Use the Generic Resource lookup to select the generic resources you want to include in the search. If you select one record, the record's name displays in the search field. If you select more than one record, the following text displays in the search field: <based on selected records>.

  • Global and Personal Searches — Use these options to further limit the search criteria to include your saved searches.

Organizations

This field displays if your firm uses Vision organizations. Use the Organization lookup to select the criteria for the organization search, including the different levels of the organizational structure. You can also select the Active Organizations Only option to select from organizations that are marked as active.

If you select a higher level organization, Vision automatically selects its associated lower levels.

If you select a lower-level organization, Vision automatically selects its associated higher levels as well.

Apply To

This field displays if you make a selection in the Organizations field.

Use these options to define the level to which Vision should search the organization. The options are:

  • Generic Resource — Select this option to search the plan's generic resources.

  • Plan — Select this option to search the plan's organization.

  • Project — Select this option to search the organization by project or Work Breakdown Structure level 1 (WBS1).

Plan

Use the Plan filters to determine which plans display in the plan level rows on the Generic Resource Assignments grid. Options are:

  • Both Mapped and Unmapped — Select this option to search all plans.

  • Mapped Only — Select this option to search for plans that have entries in the Top Project number field on the plan’s General tab in Project Planning. This number does not have to be linked to an existing project in the Project Info Center.

  • Unmapped Only — Select this option to search for plans that have no entries in the Top Project number field on the plan’s General tab in Project Planning. Any hours on an unmapped plan are treated as billable hours.

Use these options to further refine the results of your plan search:

  • Included in Utilization and Reporting — Select this option to search for those plans that have the Include in Utilization and Project Reports option selected on the General tab of Project Planning.

  • Only Include Plans I Manage — Select this option to only search for plans where you are the project manager assigned to the plan.

  • Plan Status — Select a plan status to use as your search criteria.

    • All — Select this option to search all plans within Vision.

    • Active — Select this option to search all active plans within Vision.

    • Dormant — Select this option to search all dormant plans within Vision.

    • Inactive — Select this option to search all inactive plans within Vision.

  • Plan Probability Percent is >= — Select this option to search for plans whose probability is equal to or greater than the entered number. Plan Probability is an estimation of the probability that the plan will win a contract and become a project. Probability is defined on the General tab of Project Planning.

  • Plans — Use the plan lookup to select individual plans for the search, or use your Global and Personal searches to further limit the criteria to include your saved searches.
