Conduct a Generic Resource Search

You can search for generic resources in Resource Management. This search makes it easy to replace generic resources with named resources.

To conduct a generic resource search, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Planning menu, click Planning >  Resource Management > Generic Assignments.
  2. Use the fields on the Options tab to configure how Vision displays information on the Generic Resource Assignments Results grid.
  3. Use the Show Generics with Assignments During options to select the range of dates in which you are searching for planned hours.

If no date is defined, Vision defaults the start date to today's date, and the end date to the end date of the month that corresponds to the start date.

  4. Use the fields on the Search tab to enter criteria that refines the results of your search.
  5. Click the Search button to execute your search.

Vision displays the results in the Results grid, including any generic resource assignments with planned hours that fall within the specified time period. If work has already begun on the assignment, the full planned hours are applied to the selected resource.

  6. Use the key on the Legend tab to interpret colors and footnotes that display on the grid.

Postrequisite: Assign a Named Resource.
