Guidelines for Creating a Plan from an Opportunity

If you use Vision CRM, you can create a new plan from an opportunity that exists in the Vision database. You can base a new plan on an opportunity that is similar in purpose and scope.

This allows you to do the following:

  • Copy values from the existing opportunity into the new plan. These values include plan name, number, organization, client, principal, project manager, and start and end dates. See Plan Fields Based on Opportunity for a complete listing of the fields that are carried over from the Opportunity Info Center into the plan.

  • Copy another plan's work breakdown structure (WBS). Use the Template Plan option to select an existing plan whose structure and information will be used as the basis for the new plan. This includes Tasks, Assignments, and Consultants. Note that planned hours, cost, and billing information is not carried over from the plan template; you must enter this data for each individual plan.

  • Copy user defined fields from the existing opportunity into the new plan. These values are defined with User Defined Components in Vision Configuration.
