Checking In and Checking Out Plan Records

An internal feature that checks plan records in and out ensures that more than one user cannot modify the same plan at the same time. This feature reduces conflicts and maintains the integrity of each plan's data.

When you open and modify a plan, Vision internally marks it as checked out to you. This means that no other user can modify it at the same time. For example, if you have a plan open, but one of your teammates attempts to open and modify the same plan, Vision informs them that the plan is non-editable because you are currently using it. When you close that plan record or navigate away from the plan, Vision then performs an internal check in of the plan and makes it available for other users.

"Navigating away" is defined as any of the following:

  • Navigating to another plan

  • Closing the Project Plan window

  • Using one of these options found on the New, Delete, or Actions menus:
    • Delete Current Plan

    • Copy Current Plan

    • Select Plan to Copy

    • New Plan

    • New Plan from Existing Project

    • New Plan from Existing Opportunity

    • Import Plan from MS Project

Also, if you view a plan in the non-editable mode, the plan will remain in that mode even after the current user finishes with it and Vision checks it in. You must close the non-editable view and open the plan again in order to have the most current plan.
