Create a New Project from a Project Template

You can create a new project from a project template, which contains a pre-defined Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as well as pre-defined data values that are transferred to the new project record.

Use this approach to save time and to ensure that new project data is accurate and consistent. If project defaults are specified in General Configuration, those default settings override template settings.

To create a new project from a project template, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Vision Navigation menu, click Info Center > Projects.
  2. Click New and select Create Project from.
  3. On the Create Project from dialog box, set the Copy From field to Project Template.
  4. In the Project Template field, click Search to open the Project Template lookup and select the template that you want to use to create the new project record.
  5. Complete the remaining fields on the Create Project from dialog box (for the new project record).
  6. Click OK. Vision closes the Create Project from dialog box and opens a new project record. Vision enters the project template information in the new project record.
  7. On the tabs of the Project Info Center form, enter additional information about the new project.
  8. Click Save.
