Create Graphics Placeholders in a Microsoft Word Merge Template

When you select one or more graphics files to put on an Info Center merge template, you must specify each graphic's location and dimensions.

This topic applies only to merge templates that you create with Microsoft Word.

Deltek recommends that you add several graphics placeholders to each page. Put them at each location where you may put graphics. This prevents the need to re-modify the merge template if the next proposal has more graphics files. Unused placeholders are deleted when you run a graphics macro. The best way to insert a graphic is via the Vision macro toolbar.

When you put a graphics file into a proposal, you must specify the path to the graphics file on the Files tab of the appropriate Info Center. Do not use commas to separate the folder levels in a graphic's file path. Because Vision uses commas as separators in graphics placeholder codes, the merge procedure does not run correctly if it finds a comma in the graphic's file path.

To create a graphics placeholder, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Vision toolbar, click the Vision Field icon.
  2. Select the Info Center that you are using, then click OK.
  3. Click in the merge template at the location where the graphic is to appear in the merge document.
  4. Select the Graphics Placeholder from the left pane of the Select Merge Code dialog, then click OK.
  5. On the Graphics dialog box, enter the appropriate numbers, then click OK.
  6. Save the template.
