Analysis Cubes Configuration Form

Use the tabs of the Analysis Cubes Configuration form to select measures and dimensions for data cubes, establish key performance indicators, set up calculated measures, and determine currency exchange parameters.

Important Information

  • After you make an initial selection and whenever you modify the selections on the Measures tab or Dimensions tab subsequently, a system administrator must use the Vision Resource Kit to update the Vision data cubes with the measure and dimension selections.

  • If you remove fields that previously populated the data cubes and you have reports that include these removed fields, the fields are automatically removed from custom reports after you refresh report data. You must rebuild the reports.

  • If you use the Multicompany feature, the selections that you make on this form apply for all of the companies in your enterprise.

  • You add user-defined fields to the data cubes on the Fields tab in Configuration > General > User Defined Tabs.

  • If you rename fields in Vision using Screen Designer, the new name does not display in the data cubes; the names assigned on the Labels tab in Vision Configuration > General > System Settings display within the data cubes.

  • The fields in the Dimensions grid on the Dimensions tab include all the dimension fields for both the Project and General Ledger data cubes. The fields that you select in the grid populate the appropriate Project and/or General Ledger cube.

  • Multi-string, hierarchical dimensions on the Dimensions tab (such as Vendors by Geography and Projects by Organization in the Projects dimension group) group items by a predefined hierarchy. For example, when you select Vendors by Geography, it groups vendors by their country, state, and city. These multi-string, hierarchical dimensions always populate the data cubes; you cannot remove them. They display in the Dimensions grid with the Selected check box selected, and you cannot clear it. The cell that displays the Selected check box for these dimensions is shaded.

Also, if you clear a field in the Dimensions grid that is a component of a multi-string hierarchical dimension (for example, the city for the Vendors by Geography dimension), the hierarchal dimension still populates the data cubes.

You can use Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services security to filter multi-string, hierarchical dimensions out of the data cubes.
