Associate a Contact Dialog Box

Use the Associate a Contact dialog box to define the relationship between two contacts in your database. You can also specify that the clients for the contacts become associated when you define this relationship. You define contact relationship options in Code Table Configuration.

Location

To display the dialog box, complete one of the following actions:

  • On the Associations grid on the Associations tab of the Contact Info Center, click Associate.
  • On the Associate a Contact dialog box, select the Associate the Clients of these two Contacts option.

Field Description
Contact A is a ... of/to Contact B Use this drop-down list to select the relationship of the current contact record to the contact that you want to add to the Associations grid.
Description Enter a description of the association.

Click Edit to use the Text Editor to enter information.

Contact B is a ... of/to Contact A Use this drop-down list to select the relationship of the contact that you want to add to the Associations grid to the current contact record.
Description Enter a description of the association.

Click Edit to use the Text Editor to enter information.

Associate the clients of these two contacts Select this option to create an association between Contact A's client firm and Contact B's client firm. If you select this option, and click OK on the Associate a Contact dialog box, Vision displays the Associate a Client dialog box. Use this dialog box to enter details for the client-to-client association.

When you complete this process, contact-to-contact associations are added to the Associations grid in each of the contact records specified. Also, client-to-client associations are added to the Associations grid in the corresponding client records.
