Password Policies Form

Use the Password Policies form to establish system-wide user password restrictions.

Display the Password Policies Form

You display the form in Configuration.

To display the form, complete the following step:

From the Vision Navigation menu, click Configuration > Security > Password Policies.

Save Click this option to save entries for the current record.
Help Click this option to view help about Security.

Contents of the Password Policies Form

Use the fields and options to specify the rules for passwords.

Field Description
Minimum password length Enter a numeric value for the minimum password length.
Require at least one digit in all passwords Select this option to require a digit in each password.
Require at least one special character in all passwords Select this option to require a special character, such as & or #, in each password.
Passwords expire after X days Enter a numeric value for the number of days before a password expires. After a password expires, the user is locked out of Vision and must change the password to log in again. If you enter 0 (zero), the password never expires.
Do not allow passwords to be reused for X days Enter a numeric value for the number of days during which the user cannot reuse a password. If you enter 0 (zero), password reuse is not restricted.
Disable users after X invalid login attempts Enter a numeric value for the number of invalid login attempts allowed before a user is disabled from using Vision. Each time that a login is successful, the counter clears and restarts at zero. After Vision locks out a user, his or her password will not work until the administrator reinstates the user's login rights on the General tab.
