Customize the Navigation Menu

You can customize the Navigation menu to suit your company's needs. You can add new menu items, rearrange existing menu items, or delete menu items. The changes that you make apply to all users.

To customize your Navigation menu:

  1. Click Navigation Menu Designer at the bottom right part of the Navigation menu.
  2. On the Navigation Menu Designer dialog box, add new menu items:
    1. Go to the area on the tree where you want to add a menu item.
    2. Right-click the item and select Insert before or Insert after. For example, if you want to add an item after Clients in the Info Center, click Clients and then select Insert after. A new menu item called new node displays.
    3. Select the item and complete the applicable fields.
When you add a top-level menu item, it automatically becomes a parent level and no further action is allowed. The top-level menu only houses the levels under it. A parent-level node must have at least one child node in order to be visible and active. Parent levels with children that have no actions do not display in the Navigation menu; however, they do display in the Navigation Menu Designer.
  3. To rename menu items, select the menu item that you want to change and enter the new label in the Menu Label field. Limit the length of the label. If it is too long, it will "wrap" in the Navigation menu.
  4. To rearrange menu items:
    1. Right-click the item that you want to move and select Cut from the menu.
    2. Go to the item/area on the menu where you want to move it.
    3. Right-click the item and select Paste before or Paste after from the menu. For example, if you want to move an item after Backup Database in Utilities, click Backup Database and select Paste after.
  5. To indent or outdent any item beneath a parent item, right-click the item and select Indent or Outdent on the shortcut menu.
  6. To delete an item, right-click the item and select Delete from the shortcut menu. You can only delete user-defined menu items. You cannot delete standard items. To restrict users so that they cannot see a particular standard menu item, use Security.
  7. Click OK.
