Create a Key Performance Indicator

If you use Vision Analysis Cubes, you can create key performance indicators (KPIs) to add to Vision custom reports. You can create KPIs for the Project data cube only.

To create a key performance indicator, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Vision Navigation menu, click Configuration > General > Analysis Cubes.
  2. On the Analysis Cubes form, click the Key Performance Indicators tab.
  3. On the toolbar of the Key Performance Indicator grid, click Insert to insert a blank row in the grid.
  4. Enter information in the Key Performance Indicator grid for the new KPI.
  5. Optional. If you want to enter a specific goal for individual records, which overrides the goal entered in the Key Performance Indicator grid, complete the following actions.

In the Key Performance Indicator grid, be sure that the KPI for which you are entering a specific goal is selected. (Click anywhere in the KPI's row to select it.)

    1. On the toolbar of the Specific Goals grid, click Insert to insert a blank row in the grid.

    2. In the blank row, enter a goal for a specific record.

    3. Repeat steps a and b for as many specific goals as you need.

For example, you create a KPI to measure project revenue per project manager. In the Default Goal field of the Key Performance Indicator grid, you enter $100,000, the revenue goal for all project managers. In the Annual Goal field in the Specific Goals grid, you enter a revenue goal of $80,000 for David Miller, a new project manager. The revenue goal of $80,000 overrides the revenue goal of $100,000 for David. Every other project manager has a revenue goal of $100,000.

    4. Click Save.

Postrequisites: Use the Vision Resource Kit to update the Vision data cubes with the KPIs.
