Relationship to Other Vision Applications

To create invoices, Billing retrieves information from several areas of Vision.

Application Description
Project Info Center You enter billing information for each of your projects in the Project Info Center. You specify how you want to bill each project:
  • Based solely on the default billing terms set up on a company-wide basis in Configuration.
  • On a project-by-project basis, by establishing project specific billing terms.
Employee Info Center The following information from the Accounting tab of the Employee Info Center is used for billing:
  • The category selected in the Labor category field.
  • If you use the Rate times multiplier Labor Method for billing, the Job Cost Rate.
  • If you use the Sep ovt with employee percent Overtime Method to bill overtime, the value in the Job Cost Ovt Pct field.
Client Info Center Client names and addresses used on invoices are retrieved from the Client Info Center.
Vendor Info Center If you bill expenses by vendor, the vendor name comes from the Vendor Info Center. If you chose to show detail on invoices, the vendor name is also retrieved from the Vendor Info Center.
Unit Info Center Units are goods or services billed at the same rate per item. Units are defined in the Unit Info Center.
Transaction Center The following information from the Transaction Center is used for billing:
  • Transactions entered in the Transaction Center, such as Accounts Payable vouchers, employee expenses, or journal entry transaction entries flow into the Billing application. (For some types of transactions, a Suppress Billing option is available to block the transaction from flowing to Billing).
  • If you choose to Show Detail for expenses or units on the Exp/Con/Unit tab in Billing Terms, descriptions entered through transaction entry display on invoices. For example, if you select Show Detail for expenses, the descriptions you enter on Accounts Payable vouchers, cash disbursements, and Accounts Payable disbursements are all shown on invoices.
