Info Center Workflows

Your system administrator can configure Vision to alert you when events occur that affect information in your database. These events can also act as triggers for tasks that Vision performs. These events and the actions that they trigger are called workflows.

Your system administrator defines the parameters of a workflow process in Workflow Configuration. You can set a workflow into motion when someone adds, changes, or deletes a record in any of the Info Centers except Units.

Based on the parameters specified by your system administrator, Vision can perform one or more of the following actions when the specified event occurs:

  • Send an email alert to designated employees
  • Send a dashboard alert to designated employees
  • Change the value in a data column
  • Create an activity
  • Invoke a Web service

For example, your firm wants to ensure that payroll and benefit information for new employees is processed in a timely fashion, and that all new employees have an opportunity to meet managers and other key personnel at your firm. To achieve these goals, you establish a workflow that triggers when you add new employee records to your database. For this workflow, when you add a new employee, Vision sends an email message to your Human Resources administrator to advise her of the new hire. Vision then schedules a welcome meeting for the employee and your firm's managers and other key personnel.
