Move Fields in an Excel Report

You can move fields around on an Excel PivotTable report.

To move fields in a report, complete the following step:

Select one of the following actions:
  • At the bottom of the PivotTable Field List, drag a field out of one area, and drop it into another area. For example, if you want a field to be a column instead of a row, drag and drop the field out of the Row Labels area and into the Column Labels area. When you do this, the field also moves accordingly in the report layout area.
  • In the Row Labels, Column Labels, or Report Filters areas at the bottom of the PivotTable Field List, click the down arrow beside a field name. On the shortcut menu, click one of the move options. You cannot move measures from the Values area to other areas.
  • In the report layout area, right-click a data cell or heading cell, click Move on the shortcut menu, and then select one of the move options.
