Load Reports Tab of Report Administration

Use the Load Reports tab to load reports (RDL files) onto the report server from the application server.

Contents

If you are using a workstation, you must use the Custom Reports tab to upload custom reports into Vision.

Header Information

Field Description
Location of reports on application server Specify the file path location of the reports (RDL files) on the report server.
Report Type Select the report type: Standard, Custom, or All.
Report Name If you want to load a single report, you can enter the name of the report here. (You do not need to supply the .RDL extension.)

This field can also be used as a wild card search. For example, if you enter Project, Vision will search for and load all files that contain the word Project, such as Project List and Project Audit. Subreports will not be automatically loaded for main reports; they will also have to be loaded manually by name. If the Report Name field is left blank, all reports will load.

Delete existing reports in each folder before loading If you select this option, Vision deletes all reports of the type you selected that are currently loaded on the report server. Vision then searches the reports directory to load new reports. For example, if you have custom reports that are obsolete (no longer existing in the reports file directory), then Vision removes those reports from the report server before loading new ones.

This option does not delete all custom reports prior to loading. Vision leaves the current state on the report server unchanged prior to loading new custom reports. This could be useful if custom reports had been loaded at one point and the report files (.RDL files) no longer exist on the file system.

If you do not select this option, Vision loads new reports of the type you selected, but does not delete reports currently loaded on the report server. However, if a report currently exists, Vision replaces it with the new report.

Load Report Files Select this option to load the reports to the report server. Note that you must re-load a report file after each modification to ensure that the current version is used.
Check Report Version Select this option to compare the application server's RDL file with the report server's file. Vision checks for and reports any inconsistencies.
  • If there are inconsistencies, Vision displays an error message listing details of the issue.
  • If there are no inconsistencies, Vision displays a message stating that the version checking is complete. Click OK to return to the Load Reports tab.
