Enable Unicode

If you need to enter and store East Asian language characters such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, or other characters that require Unicode, use the Enable Unicode utility to enable it for your database.

Prerequisite: Because the impact this utility has on your database is significant and not reversible, you must have a password to run it. Contact Deltek Customer Care to discuss your needs and determine if Unicode is required. If it is, Customer Care will provide the password so that you can run the utility.

To enable Unicode for the current database:

  1. Confirm that you have a verified backup of the database.
  2. Make sure that no one is logged on to Vision.
  3. From the Vision Navigation menu, click Utilities > Advanced Utilities > Enable Unicode.
  4. Click Run.
  5. On the Password Required dialog box, enter the password that you received from Deltek Customer Care and click OK.
