Set Up Direct Database Access
If your firm subscribes to the Flex Cloud offering, or if you have a license to use Vantagepoint Intelligence, you can establish a secure, read-only connection to your Vantagepoint transaction database, using ODBC. Use this approach to connect tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, or the Business Intelligence Development Studio directly to your database.
For more information on databases that support an ODBC connection, see the
ODBC Environment Permissions topic.
To set up direct database access:
- Create ODBC accounts for your users.
- Install and configure the ODBC driver.
- Connect the Vantagepoint database and the application that supports ODBC connectivity.

After the ODBC driver is installed and configured, make a connection between the workstation and the Vantagepoint database, using any application that supports ODBC connectivity. - IP Allowlisting
IP Allowlists give you greater control over your ODBC accounts when they are used to access your Vantagepoint data in the cloud. - ODBC Environment Permissions
Depending on the Cloud level offerings that you have implemented, you are granted corresponding ODBC permissions to specific environments.
