Complete User Configuration in Vantagepoint

When you set up users and passwords in Vantagepoint, you must also configure any user who will use single sign-on (SSO).

Prerequisite: Make sure that the username in Vantagepoint matches the username in Microsoft Entra ID.

For example, if the user's email address is john.smith@abcengineers.com, the Vantagepoint username should be john.smith, which is an exact match of the part of the email address before the domain (@abcengineers.com).

To set up single sign-on for each user:

  1. In Vantagepoint, navigate to Settings > Security > Users.
  2. On the Users form, complete the following for each user:
    1. In the User ID field, enter the username without the domain details (for example, john.smith).
    2. Select the Windows Authentication checkbox.
    3. In the Domain field, enter your domain name (for example, abcengineers.com).
The Domain field in Vantagepoint should match the Domain field in Microsoft Entra ID. This does not apply if the user is a guest in the Microsoft Entra ID domain.
For more information, see Contents of the User Form in the online help.
  3. Enter all other required details for the user.
  4. Click Save.
Note: If you are deploying an on-premises version of Vantagepoint and using Microsoft Entra ID authentication, in the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, navigate to the Vantagepoint application/virtual directory and select Authentication. In the Authentication security settings, make sure that Anonymous Authentication is enabled.

For on-premises versions of Vantagepoint that use Entra ID, see the "Configure Windows Authentication Switch" topic in the Vantagepoint Installation and Maintenance Guide.
