Welcome to the Deltek Vantagepoint 5.0.5 Release Notes, which describe the new features and enhancements introduced in this release.

These release notes address all of the modules associated with Deltek Vantagepoint 4.5, some of which your firm may not use. Skip the sections that do not apply to your implementation of Deltek Vantagepoint.

Idaho 2022 Tax Updates

Idaho's 2022 withholding methods were released by the state tax commission. The percentage method implements tax rate cuts in bill (H.B. 436), which reduced the number of tax rates used from five to four and reduced the highest rate used from 6.5% to 6%.

Oregon Q3 2022 SUTA Electronic Filing: New EFW2 File Format

Beginning with the third quarter filing in 2022, Frances Online will replace the Oregon Payroll Reporting System (OPRS) and the Employer Account Access (EAA) portal. The new system will support combined payroll reporting, including Unemployment Insurance Tax, Workers' Benefit Fund (WBF), State Withholding Tax, and Lane and TriMet Transit Taxes.

Beginning in the first quarter of 2023, the new system will also support Statewide Transit Tax (STT) and Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (PFMLI) Contributions.

With these changes, the Oregon Employment Department (OED) has developed a new schema to reflect the updates in the file upload to include the new PFMLI program and STT. The new program columns will not take effect until the programs are available in Frances Online, beginning in the first quarter of 2023.

Employee Only Emails and Meetings

You can now share any email message or meeting with Vantagepoint, regardless of the contacts or employees who are associated with the email message or meeting. Note that all attendees (contacts and employees) are automatically invited to meetings in your calendar.


Software Issues Resolved


Accounting >> Labor Cross Charge


Defect 1648921: This issue occurred on the Labor Cross Charge form in Accounting when you tried to print a long list of charges (for example, 500 or more records) from the Labor Charge grid. In the Labor Cross Charge grid, when you selected the Select All checkbox and then clicked Print, the print processing time took longer than expected. If you clicked Print again, the process timed out and Vantagepoint did not print the long list of labor cross charges.


Defect 1714606: When you ran the Labor Cross Charge process, it took a long time to complete or you received "An error has occurred" message as it was trying to process. This issue occurred when you selected the Display postings already processed checkbox and the Display Labor Adjustments and Billing Transfers checkbox on the Labor Cross Charge form before you ran the process.


Billing >> Interactive Billing


Defect 1642708: On the Fees tab in Interactive Billing, when you updated the value in the Percent Complete field in the Fee Billing Phases grid, the new value did not display as you entered it. For example, if you changed the percent complete to to 7.5, it displayed as 7.5002.


Defect 1689557: When you voided an invoice in Interactive Billing and then printed a credit memo for that invoice on the Invoice History tab, Vantagepoint tried to print the original invoice instead of the credit memo.


Defect 1705315: In Interactive Billing, when you accepted an invoice and moved away from the screen before processing finished, the accepted invoice disappeared and no transaction entry was generated. This issue occurred if you selected the Review GL Details on Accept check box in Billing Session Options.


Defect 1715761: In Interactive Billing, when you downloaded an invoice for editing in Microsoft Word, the table formatting icons for insert and delete actions were missing.


Defect 1719839: You could not view draft invoice comments in Interactive Billing when the comments entered were copied from a Word file or Excel file.


Defect 1720396: The Billing Extension fields in Interactive Billing displayed 0.00 instead of the calculated billing extension amounts. This issue occurred if you had work breakdown structure levels 2 and 3 (phase and task) with more than 7 characters. Now you can have up to 30 characters.


Defect 1727977: After you clicked the Accept action on the Interactive Billing form, on the Invoice Accept dialog box if you added a row of project detail and you entered only an account, an invoice section, and an amount for the row, you were incorrectly allowed to click the Accept button without entering a phase or task for the project detail.


Defect 1728707: This issue occurred when you selected a transaction on the Expenses tab of the Interactive Billing form and then selected any of the Expense grid actions (for example, Hold). On the Billing Expense dialog box, the Task field did not include the task name and only displayed the task number that was associated with the transaction.


Defect 1732765: This issue applies if taxes were specified in your project's retainage terms in Hubs » Projects » Billing Terms. In Interactive Billing, when you selected two or more invoices to bill and created an invoice file for the withheld retainage, Vantagepoint did not display the correct retainage sum. This resulted in an incorrect tax basis and calculation on your invoice file.

Defect 1645799: When the import utility updated a custom field for one of the Vantagepoint hubs, the ModDate and ModUser fields were updated in the main table but not in the Custom Tab fields table.

Defect 1718081: When you added a new record by clicking +New Employee on the Employees form, you received an internal server error message.


Hubs >> Firms >> Firms


Defect 1718813: This issue occurred in the Firms hub when you updated a child firm record to associate it with a parent firm record. On the Overview tab of the Firms form, the value in the Parent field did not match the parent firm record that you selected.


Defect 1720312: This issue occurred in the Firms hub when you used the search field to enter keywords that matched a vendor record with a dormant status. When you selected to view the record, you received the following warning message: "Vendor is dormant. Would you like to make this firm active?" You were unable to display the record unless you clicked the Make Active option.

Defect 1609255: Performance issues when loading the Team Members grid after selecting a project record have been improved.


Defect 1692335: This issue occurred if you created a regular project and assigned a billing client. If you then created a linked promotional project, any changes that you made to the billing client on the regular project were not synced to the linked project.

Defect 1594899: You received a "Category {0} is already in use" error message when you created billing terms for a project by copying the billing terms from another project that had Percent Complete by Phase, as Fixed Amount as the fee method and the Allocate Billed Revenue on Fee Invoices Based on Category checkbox selected.


Hubs >> Projects >> Contract Management


Defect 1704752: The Save and Cancel buttons did not consistently display when you tried to delete contract rows on the Contract tab of the Contract Management form.


Defect 1728976: On the Contracts tab of the Contract Management form, you entered contract information and amounts for a project. You then selected [image] and on the Project Structure dialog box you added a phase or a task to the project.

In Hubs » Projects » Contract Management, when you tried to spread contract amounts to the lowest level of the WBS, you received this error message: "Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.ContractDetails' with unique index 'ContractDetailsWBS1WBS2WBS3ContractNumberIDX'."

This issue occurred even if you did the following in Settings » Project » Contract Management:


Hubs >> Projects >> Draft Invoice Approvals


Defect 1694650: This issue applies if you use the Markup on Draft Invoices feature (turned on in Settings » Billing » Options). In Draft Invoice Approvals, you received the following error message when you selected a project that had a draft invoice that was submitted from Batch Billing: "Record xxx already exists and cannot be added."

Defect 1714589: When you made changes in the Receivables Information section in Screen Designer before upgrading to Vantagepoint 4.5.6 or later, the Receivables Information did not display on the Invoices tab in the Projects hub.


Defect 1722295: When your security role did not have rights to run accounting processes in prior periods, you were also unable to display and print project invoices for prior periods on the Invoices form.


Hubs >> Projects >> Plan


Defect 1594552: In a timesheet, you entered project information in the left grid, entered daily hours in the right grid, and saved the record. In Hubs » Projects » Plan, the JTD Cost field in the Plan grid used the active company's functional currency instead of the currency of the company to which the timesheet belongs.

This issue happened if:


Defect 1642487: On the Schedule tab of Plan form for a selected project or a new project, when you clicked Other Actions » Export Gantt, the exported XML file did not load correctly in Microsoft Project and you received an error message.


Defect 1685846: On the Labor tab of the Plan form, when you reassigned hours from a resource with later assignment dates to a resource with earlier assignment dates, the updated resource row did not display the correct end date in the Assignment End field.


Defect 1724258: This issue occurred when autonumbering was enabled for projects and your project workflow included Validate Error actions. When the project that you created on the Project form contained lower levels of the work breakdown structure (such as phases or tasks), Vantagepoint duplicated these levels when you displayed the project on the Plan form.


Defect 1727910: When you updated the Sub-Row Settings dialog box of the Labor tab for a published project plan, the project plan status changed to not published. When you displayed a different project plan and then displayed the affected project plan again, the correct status was displayed.


Hubs >> Projects >> Project


Defect 1619618: This issue occurred when you did the following:

  1. On the Projects form in Hubs » Projects » Project, you created a new project and specified a primary client.

  2. On the Firms form in Hubs » Firms » Firms, you added the project on the Associations tab.

  3. Returning to the Projects form in Hubs » Projects » Project, you deleted the record and then created a new project record with the same project name and primary client.

  4. Switching back to Hubs » Firms » Firms, you added the new project on the Associations tab of the Firms form. When you saved, you received the following error message: "Error- Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.ClendorProjectAssoc' with unique index 'ClendorProjectAssocIDX'."


Defect 1697040: When you used the Role option to update the role type of a team member from Owner to another role and saved the changes, the team member's role reverted to Owner.


Defect 1726501: If your Vantagepoint configuration uses multiple organizations, when you created a new project and selected an organization on the Projects form, you received the following error message when you attempted to save the project: "Invalid WBS Level Specified - after upgrade to 5.0."

Defect 1728536: This issue occurred for a user when your firm used multiple companies and that user's role was configured as follows in Settings » Security » Roles:

When you tried to log in to Vantagepoint, one of two issues occurred:


Mobile >> Mobile Time and Expense


Defect 1718157: When you submitted an expense report and later decided to unsubmit it, the Unsubmit button in the mobile application became unavailable. This issue occurred when a condition in the approval workflow was met such that the first step was bypassed and the workflow automatically proceeded to the second step.


My Stuff >> Approval Center


Defect 1703636: This issue occurred if your employee record access has user-defined fields specified in Settings » Security » Roles. When you tried to print a Timesheet Line approval report, you received this error message: "An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)."


My Stuff >> Calendar


Defect 1653507: When you entered a calendar timesheet entry and clicked Save, the save operation did not finish processing and the record was not saved.


My Stuff >> Dashboards


Defect 1497875: This occurred for dashparts with the project dashpart base. The value displayed in the Realization Ratio column did not match the JTD Realization Ratio value in the Project Earnings report.


Defect 1722262: Cost amount-related columns displayed cost amount values in a dashpart with the project detail dashpart when they should not have. This issue occurred when you, on the Accounting tab of Role settings (Settings » Security » Role), set the Labor Cost Rates/Amounts option to Subtotals Only or Final Totals Only.


Defect 1731693: When you applied a date range for a calculated field on a dashboard, the End of Time setting was not considered a valid end date.


My Stuff >> Expense Report


Defect 1600513: In the Expense Report grid, you (as an approver) deleted an expense line that had a receipt associated with it and saved the record. You then added back the deleted line item and on the Expense Line Receipts dialog box selected the checkbox in the Attached to This Line field to associate the receipt with the expense line. When you clicked the hyperlink, there was no receipt attached.


My Stuff >> Reporting


Defect 1454078: This issue occurred for the Employee Ledger report. Even when you selected search criteria fields, you received the following error message: "Please select fields to search."

This issue occurred when you:

  1. Navigated to My Stuff » Reporting and selected the Employee Ledger report.

  2. Clicked the Options tab and used the default report options.

  3. On the Actions toolbar, clicked Run.

  4. On the Report Preview, clicked the Search & Download button.

  5. In the Search Criteria section at the bottom of the report, selected several search criteria fields.


Defect 1717666: When you ran the Employee Ledger report for all periods, the report displayed an opening balance. The opening balance was added to the outstanding balance; as a result, the outstanding balance was incorrect (it was doubled).


Defect 1719828: When you generated the Project Planning List report, the Plan End Date column displayed incorrect end date values. The report did not reflect the values on the plan record.


Defect 1726547: In the Payroll Export report, taxable wages were doubled for some withholdings if an employee was associated with more than one company.


Defect 1730697: This issue occurred in the Project Detail report when you saved it as a favorite report. The Find Activity in this Time Frame field in the Options tab of the report settings displayed a zero (0) value even if you selected the Period Range option before saving the report as a favorite report. When you subsequently set the Find Activity in this Time Frame option to Period Range to correct the favorite report setting, the generated report displayed incomplete data from the period range.


Defect 1732349: This issue occurred if you, in Settings » Billing » Fee, set the Override Prior Fee option to No. When you ran the Fee Remaining report, the amounts in the Previous Fee and Fee Remaining columns were incorrect.


Defect 1738342: This issue occurred when you, on the Options tab of Project reports, specified settings for the Project Number Rollup Options. The rollup function did not work correctly on the Office Detail report.


My Stuff >> Timesheet


Defect 1627984: When you added comments in the Description field for a unit entry on the Timesheets form and pressed the ENTER key, Vantagepoint displayed HTML tags in the Description field of the Unit Posting Log report in Transaction Center » Posting Review.


Defect 1653688: This issue occurred in My Stuff » Timesheets when you searched for terminated employees by building a standard search on the Search dialog box. When the matching records displayed in the Search Results grid, the Apply All button appeared even if you had not selected a record.


Defect 1714552: When you approved a timesheet and then navigated to the next record on the Timesheets form, a blank screen displayed and you were unable to approve the record.


Notification Center


Defect 1714742: The Notification Center dialog box closed after you deleted a single notification.


Proposals >> Custom Proposals


Defect 1619734: When you added an element group to a proposal, Vantagepoint displayed fields instead of hub records with corresponding pages.


Defect 1677579: When you saved a hub record as an element group and then added it to your proposal, Vantagepoint did not display the element group’s contents when you clicked the Edit Record Layout option.


Purchasing >> Receiving


Defect 1698187: In the desktop application, when you clicked a hyperlink for a purchase order record, either nothing happened or you were taken to a blank page in the browser application.


Resource Management >> Reporting


Defect 1437807: This issue occurred in Resource Management Reporting. When you ran a project report, calculations were incorrect or missing.


Defect 1693330: This issue occurred in Resource Management Reporting. When you switched to the Employee filter, the ETC Hours and Range Planned Hours fields displayed incorrect values.


Defect 1717656: This issue applies if you used a single-company database with no organization data. In Resource Management, when you chose to display the Reporting grid by Resources, Vantagepoint did not return any records.


Search


Defect 1722329: This issue occurred for employees that were associated with multiple companies. When you configured the advanced search criteria with the Projects - Organization field, and set the operator to "Is Mine", sometimes the search results did not display projects that belonged to your home company.

Defect 1732007: On the Posting Accounts form, Vantagepoint populated the Prior Year Retained Earnings field with the selected account number, but did not display the corresponding account name.


Settings >> Cash Management >> Banks


Defect 1728427: You received this error message: "Line Overlapping for Field Number 0 and 1. Please check the start and length columns."

This issue occurred when you did the following:

  1. On the Banks settings form, you set the File option to Fixed Length.

  2. In the Line Type field, you selected an option (for example, Header 1).

  3. In any of the grids on the User Defined File Format tab, you added an entry line, entered 1 in the Field Number, Length, and Start columns, and saved the record.

  4. You specified a value for the Line Type option that differed from your first selection and then added a second entry line.

  5. For the second entry line, you entered the same value as you did in Step 3 in the Field Number, Length, and Start columns, and saved the record.


Settings >> Labels and Lists


Defect 1712892: The Stage list on the Labels and Lists tab displayed non-standard codes when the CRM module was not installed.


Settings >> Rate Tables >> Billing Labor Categories


Defect 1672378: When you modified a labor category number in the Categories grid of the Billing Labor Category Tables form, Vantagepoint removed its associated employees from the Employee Overrides grid.


Settings >> Security >> Roles


Defect 1631732: As an administrator, you added a role in Settings » Security » Roles and granted access rights to the Activities hub and to other hubs that have an Activities tab (for example, Contacts or Employees). You then associated users with the role.

If you subsequently returned to the Roles form, removed the access rights to Activities for the newly created role, and saved the changes, the users associated with the role were not able to update information on the Activities tab in other hubs.


Defect 1683119: When you copied a role, the search parameters in the Record Level View field (on the Application Record Access grid of the Record Access tab) were not copied from the original role.


Settings >> Workflow >> Scheduled Workflows


Defect 1653249: When you added a new workflow or copied an existing one, the Schedule checkbox was automatically selected in the new workflow.


Defect 1722026: Even though the conditions for a scheduled workflow were met, when you clicked the button to start the workflow, you received a warning message that a scheduled workflow could not be initiated because it did not meet the workflow conditions. This issue occurred if the workflow had a condition with a NULL value.


Defect 1722111: This issue occurred when, on the Field Settings dialog box, you created a user-defined numeric field and specified that the field should display two decimal places. On the Conditions dialog box in Settings » Workflow » Scheduled Workflows, when you added a new condition, selected the user-defined field in the Column field, and entered a value with two decimal places in the Value field, Vantagepoint automatically rounded the number in Value to the nearest whole number.

Defect 1650653: On the Column (Field) Change Configuration dialog box, options in the Value field were unavailable when you selected an employee type option (for example, Project Manager or Supervisor) in the Column field.


Defect 1672559: In the Actions grid, when you tried to select a specific word in the Description field of a workflow action, the whole description was sometimes selected.


Defect 1729037: When you added a new user in the Email Configuration list of a workflow, the users previously included in the list were deleted.


Transaction Center >> Transaction Entry >> Cash Receipts


Defect 1504279: When you added a line item in a Cash Receipt transaction record and used the Project Lookup in the Project field to select a project, you received a "No Results Found" error message. This issue occurred if the Restrict Charge Companies option was selected for the project record.


Transaction Center >> Transaction Entry >> Invoices


Defect 1671744: This issue occurred when you changed the invoice number of an unposted credit memo invoice that is associated with a project. When you posted the edited credit memo invoice, you received this error message: "There is no row at position 0."


Utilities >> Desktop Imports


Defect 1729447: In the desktop application, errors were logged in the Import Error report when you ran the Import utility. This issue occurred when you updated project records instead of adding new ones and the Stage field was incorrectly validated.


Defect 1733168: When you used the AP Voucher Data Entry import, the currency code values for the vouchers were imported in lowercase letters (example: cad instead of CAD). The lowercase currency code incorrectly caused the tax amounts on AP vouchers to be rounded when you edited the tax amounts on AP vouchers in Transaction Center » Transaction Entry. Now the currency codes are imported in uppercase letters.


Utilities >> History Loading >> Invoice and Receipt


Defect 1682139: In the Invoices grid, you entered an invoice number in the Invoice field, specified the date on which the invoice was created, and selected a client in the Client field. When you saved the record, the value of the Client field was not saved correctly. This issue occurred when the project associated with the invoice did not have a value specified in the Primary Client field of the project record.

Defect 1670487: When you added, removed, or modified external firms and contacts on the Teams tab of the Projects form in Vantagepoint, the records and the corresponding actions did not sync to PIM correctly.


Utilities >> Integrations >> QuickBooks


Defect 1730637: This issue applies if you use QuickBooks integration. When you synchronized Vantagepoint and QuickBooks, the first QuickBooks vendor that was added to the Vantagepoint Firms hub had a blank firm number. The Vendor Number field in the Firms hub displayed [AUTONUMBER].

Subsequent vendor records from QuickBooks did not get added to Vantagepoint during a synchronization. The synchronization error log displayed the following error for the changedatacapture table: "Initial import failed: Vendor Number already exists [AUTONUMBER]."

This issue occurred when:

Defect 1714604: This issue occurred when you combined firm records that had the same associated activity record. When the combination process completed, you received an error message. Afterward, you could not access the existing firm record that was combined into a new firm record, but the new firm record did not have the activities and team members that were originally associated with the firm.


Utilities >> Updates >> Update Billing Status


Defect 1728502: When you ran this update utility, no record was updated and you received this error message: "The Update Billing Status process has no data to post." This issue occurred when you selected the Range of Transaction Dates checkbox.
