Welcome to the Deltek Vantagepoint 4.5.3 Release Notes, which describe the new features and enhancements introduced in this release.
These release notes address all of the modules associated with Deltek Vantagepoint 4.5, some of which your firm may not use. Skip the sections that do not apply to your implementation of Deltek Vantagepoint.
Review Screen Designer Field Security Setting for the Location Column in Hubs » Firms » Firms
If you configured the Field Security field of the Location column in Screen Designer before Vantagepoint 3.0.8, we strongly advise that you review the Field Security field of the Location column and re-apply the correct setting as needed. The Location column is in the Firm Contacts grid of the Contacts tab on the Firms form.
This review is necessary because the Field Security field for the Location column was reset to its default after the Vantagepoint 3.0.8 update, due to an incorrect Field ID associated with the Location column in the database. The correct Field ID has been restored in this maintenance release.
Additional Information in the Call Log Details
After running the Talent Management Web Service transfer job, the Call Log Details dialog box now lists employee records that were transferred from Vantagepoint to Talent Management. The records indicate the Vantagepoint Employee ID and the Employee Name. If you encounter an issue with integration with Talent Management, check the log details for help with troubleshooting.
New option to reset system jobs in the process server queue
The Reset All System Jobs option is now available on the Queue Manager form. When you select this option, Vantagepoint displays a confirmation dialog box. If you click OK, recurring process server system jobs that were added after installation are removed, and they are replaced with system default process server jobs. The reset affects system jobs in Alert, Integrations, and Maintenance process queues.
You should reset system jobs after they finish running. If there are running or failed system jobs in the Queue Processes grid when you select the Reset All System Jobs option, Vantagepoint removes these jobs along with the completed system jobs. If there are system jobs that have a status of Hold or Waiting in the process queue, Vantagepoint recreates them and updates the Start After field with the current date.
Defect 1509554: When you processed a final run in Intercompany Billing and had not yet posted the run, AP voucher tax amounts were not displaying in the Total Tax Amount column in the AP Voucher file. This issue occurred if you had the following settings:
Use Files to Group Transactions was set to No in Settings » Accounting » Transactions.
Intercompany Billing Subledger terms were set up on the Subledger Terms tab in Settings » Accounting » Intercompany Billing in the desktop application. Tax codes were entered in the Voucher section of the tab.
Tax Auditing was enabled in Settings » Cash Management » Options.
Defect 1522426: In User Initiated Workflows, it was possible to receive an error when a Column (Field) change action had been defined with a SQL expression and all of the fields in the expression had an empty value.
Defect 1529943: This issue occurred when you set the following options on the Email Invoice dialog box:
In the Subject field, you inserted fields that were unrelated to the recipients that you entered in the Email To field.
You selected the Email Single File check box.
You received an error message saying that the email setup was invalid only after you created an invoice file and tried to schedule a Batch Billing run.
Defect 1520616: In Interactive Billing, you received a "ParameterizedQueryBuilder parameter count mismatch" error message if a description in the Notes or Invoice Description fields on the General tab in Interactive Billing, or timesheet comments for labor billed on the invoice, contained a bracket such as { and other special characters.
Defect 1521539: On the Fees tab in Interactive Billing, when you used the filter option for the Phase and Task fields in the Fee Billing Phases grid, the drop-down lists displayed phases and tasks from other projects and did not limit the selections based on the selected project.
Defect 1528210: On the Select Vouchers to Pay dialog box in Vendor Payments, you were unable to select the check box at the top of the grid to clear all the selected vouchers. This issue occurred when you processed a manual payment run and there were vouchers with different payment terms for the same vendor.
Defect 1538228: In grids throughout Vantagepoint, you were unable to scroll down the grid to view more rows if your browser's Zoom setting was set to less than 100%.
Defect 1523797: When you tried to select a hub record, you received the following error message: "Whoops! Sorry there's an issue." This issue was caused by the criteria specified for the Project » Record Level Update for your assigned role in Settings » Security » Roles.
Defect 1483722: You could not edit some of the Paychex-specific fields on the Accounting tab in the Employees hub.
Defect 1497938: This issue occurred on the AR Review form when a firm record had a large number of invoices. When you set the Aged AR option to All, there was a significant delay in displaying all the invoices in the Accounts Receivable grid.
Defect 1531446: When you used the filter function to refine the list of records in the Accounts Receivable grid of the AR Review form, no results were displayed.
Defect 1544489: You could no longer sort the contents in the Accounts Receivable grid on the AR Review form after you upgraded to Vantagepoint 4.0.7.
Defect 1505249: After two firms were merged, you could not save changes to the merged firms.
Defect 1527926: When migrating a Vision database to Vantagepoint, the Billing flag for the primary Client address was set to Y even if the Billing flag was already set to Y for a different address. This resulted in incorrect default Primary and default Billing client addresses.
Defect 1536513: On the Overview tab of the Firms hub, when you updated the Description field in the Addresses grid and tried to save, the save did not complete.
Defect 1534785: This issue occurred when a project record had no contracts and you set the options on the General tab of Settings » Project » Contract Management as follows:
Project Entering Method was set to At Lowest Level Only (System Will Automatically Update Higher Levels)
Synchronize Contract Values to Project Compensation was set to Yes
When the lowest WBS level was added to the project with the Enable Phases/Tasks key conversion utility (Utilities » Key Conversions » Enable Phases/Tasks), the compensation values for the project changed to 0 on the following forms:
On the Compensation tab of the Contract Management form (Hubs » Projects » Contract Management)
On the Project Review form (Hubs » Projects » Project Review)
Defect 1494959: On the Summary pane of the Billing Terms form, the primary client that you previously removed was incorrectly assigned as the billing client and you could not remove them. This issue occurred when you did the following:
You selected or created an overhead project, specified a primary client, and clicked Save.
You removed the primary client and saved again.
You navigated to Hubs » Projects » Billing Terms and specify billing terms for the project.
Defect 1528246: You can only enter project budget data at the lowest level of a given work breakdown structure (WBS) branch. If you added a WBS level below a WBS element for which budget data had been entered previously, Vantagepoint should have automatically moved that data down to the first WBS element added at the new level, but that did not happen. The data remained with the higher-level WBS element, and you had no way to delete it or move it.
Defect 1530211: The following audit trail fields were not being updated when you made additions or changes to data in the Contract Management grid or the Contract Detail grid on the Contract tab of the Contract Management form: CreateUser, CreateDate, ModUser, and ModDate.
Defect 1516214: This error occurred if you were using a multi-company database and two companies had different starting days of the week specified in Settings » Resource Planning » Plan Settings. When you checked out a plan with its assigned company and changed the Scale to Project in Weeks and added assignments, if you then switched to the other company and attempted to save additional updates to the plan, the save indicator did not stop spinning and Vantagepoint was unable to auto-save the plan.
Defect 1516325: When you made a change to planned labor hours that affected the amounts in the ETC Planned and EAC Planned fields in the summary pane of the Plan form, those amounts were not updated immediately. To see the updated amounts, you had to navigate away from the Labor tab to force Vantagepoint to refresh the display.
Defect 1522403: If a project plan's structure included multiple labor codes and one or more of those labor codes had long names, you received the following error message when you tried to publish the plan: "String or binary data would be truncated."
Defect 1516354: If your only activated module was CRM or CRM Plus and you tried to delete a firm that had no apparent associations with other records that would make deletion invalid, Vantagepoint in some cases incorrectly displayed the following message and did not delete the firm:
"<Firm name> is in use and cannot be deleted. However, this firm can be changed to Inactive status."
Defect 1517046: Entries that you made in the Milestones grid on the Dates & Costs tab did not update values in the following audit log fields: Create User, Create Date, ModUser, and ModDate.
Defect 1522429: If the Projects form contained a user-defined grid and you created a new project by copying an existing project that had data in that user-defined grid, that data was not copied to the new project. This problem was limited to projects with only one work breakdown structure (WBS) level. If you copied a project with more than one WBS level, the user-defined grid data was copied correctly.
Defect 1526332: If your database had only the Accounting module (without CRM) and your user role in Settings » Security » Roles did not include Accounting, you could not search for project records in the Projects hub.
Defect 1530209: This issue occurred when your role's security rights to the Billing Client field were set to Secured and Locked. When you updated the Primary Client field on the Projects form, you received a confirmation prompt to also update the Billing Client field with the selected firm.
Defect 1531574: In some cases, if you used the Edit Project Structure form to add a phase and a task to a project at the same time, along with compensation amounts such as Direct Labor amounts, the compensation amounts were not synchronized between two database tables correctly. As a result, if you later deleted the task, compensation amounts for other tasks in the project work breakdown structure were set to 0.00.
Defect 1532637: This issue occurred if, on the General tab in My Preferences, you enabled Find words that sound the same when performing searches. When you searched for a specific alphanumeric project number in the Projects hub, the results included the project's associated phases instead of listing only the project that you specified.
Defect 1536432: On the Overview tab of the Projects form, when you used the advanced search options on the Client Name Lookup dialog box to change the firm in the Primary Client field, you received an error message saying that the client did not exist.
Defect 1530786: If you set up a user-initiated workflow to update a user-defined percent complete field on the Projects form when the percent complete value was changed on the Billing Summary dialog box, the workflow failed to update the user-defined field. (You access the Billing Summary dialog box from the Project Review form.)
Defect 1535717: This issue occurred if you enabled phases for a project in Utilities » Key Conversions » Enable Phases/Tasks. When you selected Hubs » Project » Project Review and set the Show option to Billing, the amount in the Direct Consultants field under JTD Billing was incorrectly doubled.
Defect 1534898: When you tried to log in to the Vantagepoint (VP) Mobile application using biometrics authentication or a PIN code, you received the following error message: "There was no response from the server. Need to refresh application."
When you uninstalled the old version of the VP Mobile application and then installed the latest version, you were able to log in. However, when you logged out and tried logging in again after 24 hours, you received the same error message.
Defect 1536062: When you upgraded the Mobile T&E application to the 4.0.6 version, the current expense reports were not displayed. (The latest expense reports shown were from the year 2015.)
Defect 1528155: When you used Date Ranges on the Grouping dialog box to group chart amounts for the Variance column, the Chart dashparts did not display the associated total amounts.
Defect 1529217: The Total line of the Total Compensation column was not updated when the project record's sublevels were excluded.
Defect 1530548: This issue occurred in dashparts with the project dashpart base and which included the Unbilled Hours Written Off column. The values displayed in the column only included labor hours with the "to be written off" (W) status. (Labor hours with the "written off" (X) status were not included.)
Defect 1527827: When you searched for your assigned expense reports in the search field, some expense reports were displayed twice in the search results. When you tried to open the affected expense reports from the search results, you received the following error message: "Ambiguous results found."
Defect 1535692: You were unable to find projects using the project lookup for expense reports (and in Transaction Center » Transaction Entry » AP Vouchers). This issue occurred when you used a single-company database and defaults had been set for multicompany fields in Screen Designer, which were not ignored.
Defect 1507595: This issue applies to the Tax Analysis report if you use reverse charge taxes. When you generated the report with the Outputs option selected on the General tab of the report options dialog box, the output values for reverse charge tax codes did not display on the report.
Defect 1510546: The label for the Use Summary Table option on the Options tab displayed an incorrect location for the refresh summary table in parenthesis. This issue occurred for the following General Ledger reports:
Balance Sheet
Income Statement
Profit Planning Monitor
Trial Balance
Defect 1529630: When you previewed the AR Aged report, it took a long time to load.
Defect 1529652: On the Options tab of the Time Analysis report, when you changed the Report At option to Cost, the update was not reflected on the screen, but was applied in the generated report.
Defect 1529660: For Project List reports, you were able to set Grid Type to Proposals in the Grouping and Sorting section of the Columns and Groups tab. However, when you clicked + Manage Grouping, you could not select the Proposal Type grouping because it was unavailable on the Select Groupings dialog box.
Defect 1529662: For Contract Management reports, this issue occurred when you added a User-Defined Currency field and set the field option to Presentation Currency. When you ran the Contract Management report, you received the following error message: "Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'where'. "
Defect 1529679: On the Favorites tab, when you filtered the Favorites list by the Role Summary report, orphaned report records and some Role Summary reports that no longer existed were displayed in the list.
Defect 1530056: When you clicked + Manage Grouping on the Groups tab of the Voucher Ledger report, the Payment Currency Code option was not available on the Select Groupings dialog box.
Defect 1530416: When you saved a favorite report with a name of more than 80 characters, you received the following error message: "String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated."
Defect 1531123: If you included column Age 07 on the AR Aged Report, an error occurred when you previewed the report.
Defect 1531773: If you have a large number of projects and you ran a Resource Management report without filtering the report to limit the projects included, it took a long time to generate the report.
Defect 1536014: When you ran the Project Earnings report, the generated output included organizations to which you do not belong. This issue occurred when you did the following:
In the Activity Basis section on the Options tab, you selected the Project, Phase, and Task options and set the Find Activity in This Time Frame option to Job-to-Date.
When searching for records to include in the report, you included records that have the same organization at the Task level where you belong.
Defect 1538984: When you generated a Tax Analysis report using a single company database, the generated report did not display any data.
Defect 1542750: The Trial Balance report did not display the same data as the Account Analysis, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement reports for the same period. The Trial Balance included transactions with Period=0 and PostSeq=0, and displayed unnecessary opening balances.
Defect 1512217: When you specified a date as a holiday in Settings » Time » Non-Work Days, the expected hours to be entered by an employee on the Timesheets form were not consistent with the expected hours indicated for the employee on the Floor Check dialog box.
Defect 1533813: On the Floor Check dialog box, when you used the filter option to search for and then select groups of timesheets, you were unable to export all of the selected timesheets. The generated comma-separated values (CSV) file only contained the last group of timesheets that you selected.
Defect 1495754: This issue occurred when you used the Search feature to search for and select resources to assign to a project plan. If you selected a saved search that was created in the Resource View, you received an error message.
Defect 1517043: This error occurred when you selected a resource and clicked Reassign at the end of the assignment row. On the Reassign dialog box, when you entered a value in the Search field and selected a match from the results, the in-progress indicator did not stop spinning and the Reassign button was not enabled.
Defect 1528715: In Advanced Search, this issue occurred when you copied and pasted two or more exact match values that had semi-colon separators (for example, "value 1; value 2;") in the Add Value field of the Search Criteria section. The exact match values incorrectly displayed with semi-colon separators, instead of as pills, and thus were not automatically selected for the search (as pills would have been). You then had to select each semi-colon separated value that you wanted to include in your search.
Defect 1526028: When you tried to save your changes after you updated the value in the Vendor Type column in the Liability Codes grid on the Liability Accounts tab of the Accounts Payable form, an error occurred.
Defect 1528923: When you deleted a row from the Expense Groups grid, the Save button remained disabled and you were unable to apply the change.
Defect 1526362: In Screen Designer for the Projects hub, you were unable to save a tooltip for any of the sub-fields of the Stage field.
Defect 1535968: In Screen Designer » Projects, when you added a new checkbox column in a grid and selected Include In Proposals, you received the following error message: "ALTER TABLE only allows columns…does not satisfy these conditions."
Defect 1531081: On the General tab of the Contract Management settings form, when you changed the Project Entering Method setting to At Lowest Level Only and clicked Save, Vantagepoint stopped operating and was unable to update the higher compensation levels.
Defect 1535578: When you opened any of the applications under Proposals on the Navigation menu, Vantagepoint incorrectly recorded that you modified your user record in Settings » Security » Users.
Defect 1502476: In the Approval Steps grid in Approval Workflows (in the desktop application), when a condition was not met and the Approval Condition Not Met column was set to Mark as Final Approved, the correct notification was not created or sent. In addition, if you selected Completed Notification and it was not the last step, the notification was automatically sent to the Create User approval role.
Defect 1523540: This issue applies if you created a user-initiated workflow for projects and added an action to change the value of a lower-level WBS element to empty when a project is copied. When the workflow action ran (as the project was being copied), the Overall % Complete, Labor % Complete, and Exp % Complete values were not empty for lower-level elements in the WBS.
Defect 1536501: When you updated parameter values in a stored procedure with a user initiated workflow, the parameter values were not in the correct order.
Defect 1526366: This issue occurred when you created a custom grid with contact, firm, and project data types in the Projects hub. If you then created a user initiated or scheduled workflow that used the Custom Grid table, the custom fields that had the Firm data type did not display for the Primary Firm's Special Selections list when you selected Create Activity in the Actions grid of the User Initiated Workflow settings form or the Scheduled Workflow settings form. The same problem happened when you selected Primary Firm Contact or Primary Firm Project.
Defect 1526368: In User Initiated Workflows and Scheduled Workflows, when you added a stored procedure action, the Stored Procedure Configuration dialog box was missing the Invoke after all changes are saved check box.
Defect 1532691: When you searched or viewed your assigned AP Invoices for approval in the Search field or in List View, some records displayed twice in the search result or the grid. An error also occurred when you tried to display the affected records.
Defect 1534018: When you tried to approve a journal entry transaction file that was generated from the Revenue Generation application and the file had gains and losses entries, you received the following error message: "Save Failed. Please resolve the indicated errors. Each line must have an amount."
Defect 1417536: When your security role did not have access rights to the Projects hub, you received a "You do not have access" error message when you tried to add a detail row to the Project Information grid on the Timesheets form.
Defect 1470163: This issue occurred if you imported billing terms data with empty values for the Limit Method field from the Import Utility (Utilities » Desktop Imports in the desktop application). On the More Calculations tab of the Billing Terms form (Hubs » Projects » Billing Terms), the Limit Method field incorrectly displayed "None" or "No Value" instead of "No Limit".
Defect 1529165: This issue occurred when you imported user defined Firm grid data from the Import Utility (Utilities » Desktop Imports in the desktop application). In Hubs » Firms » Firms, the user defined grid on the Firms form displayed "Text not Translated" in place of the imported data.
Defect 1531971: When you used the Data Import utility to import an AP Voucher file, the number of the imported voucher did not appear in the LastVoucherAP column in the FW_CFGSystem table in the database.
Defect 1464504: When you tried to import and validate a new cash receipt file, the New File Description field was missing and you received an "Invalid Column Name "Amount"" error message.
Defect 1530126: You were unable to access a project's billing terms. This issue occurred when you used the Import Utility to create project records and the currency codes appeared in lowercase instead of uppercase formatting.
Defect 1526023: This issue applies if you use QuickBooks integration with Vantagepoint. When the integration process failed due to one Quickbooks Online (QBO) payment with an invalid reference number, all succeeding valid QBO payments also failed.
Defect 1519055: When you ran the utility to combine firm records, the records did not update values of Firm type user-defined fields.
Defect 1538221: On the Key Convert Generic Resource form in the desktop application, you were unable to populate the New Labor Code field with your selection from the Labor Code lookup if the Existing Labor Code field was empty for the generic resource.
